A vessel stationed in its own territory, by what law is that illegal.

I suggest they read UNCLOS Article 19 which states innocent passage is the fundamental right of foreign ships to navigate through another country’s territorial sea. Passage must be continuous, expeditious, and not prejudicial to the peace, good order, or security of the coastal state.

Look, the claim that the Falklands are Argentinean is obviously stupid, and historically illiterate. But isn’t the claim that Argentina is *currently* in control of them even more bizarre?

It’s called the Falkland Islands. It is a British Overseas Territory. I wouldn’t poke the British especially after that ludicrous display called Football. Argentina only became interested in Penguin Island because they realized that there is oil there. We will continue to defend our property like we did last time. They won the match but they will not win a war.

The problem is it’s not petty Argentine nationalism to the people actually living on the Falkland Islands.
Argentina more often than not restricts flights to/from the Falklands from using it’s airports/airspace. It also doesn’t allow Falkland-flagged boats to utilise Argentine waters/ports, and often refuses rights of access to general Red Ensign ships, or any flagged ships that have visited/are visiting the Falklands.
It also often penalises companies that try to work in the Falklands, including oil extraction, sends their fishermen into Falkland waters to take resources, and has lobbied hard to have other South American nations commit to similar policies.
Which leaves the Falklands literally and politically isolated from their neighbours, depressing their economy, development and tourism, and making it harder for citizens to access practically anything in the region even in an emergency.
Meanwhile Argentina is in full on cult mode over the islands, from primary schools to universities, street signs, memorials, graffiti, songs, official documents… If it takes 200 years they will still try to take the islands.
I’m fairly sure that almost the entire population of Argentina is an ‘artificially implanted population’. Same for the USA. It just depends how far back you want to go.
The Falklands were British before Argentina was even a sovereign state.
It’s actually really sad that they get excited over stuff like this. The Falklands debate is the only time Argentina gets any attention globally outside of sport.

From what I can see, the Argentine invaded UK territory in an unprovoked attack, we lost more than 200+ servicemen in the war, and they are the one crying and feeling injustice?
This is not just individual footballer, it’s state sanctioned anti-defeat sentiment seen in the Japanese far right but on a national scale. It’s not right that we are not doing some sort of diplomatic sanction, at minimum those players should be banned.
