So this lady gets an Audi loaner and theres a camera behind the mirror just staring at her. She works in medicine, takes patient calls all day, and now cant do that cause the thing records audio and video. Its a Lytx DriveCam, the fleet stuff from trucking.
Kinda worried privacy turns into a thing you pay extra to opt out of.
That’s not dystopian that’s just not HIPAA compliant.
If you see one of these in a rental, remove it carefully without damaging it and hand it directly to the manager of the rental place and tell them where to shove it

A roll of tape is going to become a popular thing to carry when renting cars.
It’s their car. It wouldn’t matter to me if they were tracking it via gps. I honestly assume they do anyway bit, I have zero intention of ever stealing a rental sooo, who cares?
But, that camera? Yeah, at my first opportunity, that thing is getting black bagged. There is no reason you need to record me driving.
I think using a phone while driving should be treated like drinking while driving but this is the opposite of what I want.
Every big rig that isn’t an independent has had this for many years.
Big fat sticker on the lens, and several layers over the microphone. That would be a start.
