*The gulf countries all have higher than replacement fertility rates if you exclude migrant workers. Here are the respective fertility rates of their native populations:

      UAE – 3.1
      Qatar – 3.2
      Bahrain – 2.3
      Kuwait – 3.5
      Saudi Arabia – 2.7
      Oman – 2.8

    2. Seems to correlate with when countries started seriously industrializing (minus the gulf states)

More or less fits the rapid development phase timing:

      Japan : 1957

      Hong Kong : 1971-1980

Russia, South Korea and Taiwan : 1981-1990

      Mainland China : 1991-2000

Southeast Asian and South Asian countries mostly in 2011-2026

      Japan is 1975 not 1957

      And Bangladesh is above 2.0.

In fact, if somehow increased between 2019 and 2023 from 2.3 to 2.4.

    5. What’s with all these posts on fertility rates these days? It’s kind of weird
