Dennoch fragten sie nach der japanischen Speisekarte, obwohl sie diese nicht verstanden hatten, und beschuldigten dann das Restaurant, sie betrogen zu haben. Das erscheint völlig unvernünftig.
Der Ausdruck „1.450 Yen, Mindestbestellmenge zwei Portionen“ bedeutet, dass jede Portion 1.450 Yen kostet, der Gesamtpreis für zwei Portionen also 2.900 Yen beträgt. Dies ist eine in Japan häufig verwendete Menübezeichnung. Situations like this only give places more ammunition and justification to not serve foreigners at all. Go be KFC’s problem

I feel like we are in the middle of and being used for an info war between certain powers in South Korea and certain powers in Japan and it’s very exhausting.

Still, I think the restaurant may have tried too hard to accommodate foreign customers. If you look closely, both menus clearly mean the same thing, but the foreign-language version is more likely to cause confusion.
It would have been better to write it just like the Japanese menu: “1,450 yen per serving. Available with a minimum order of two servings.”
I’m not sure. This specific instance could be phony, but this stereotype has been around for so long.
Frankly while I, as a foreigner, don’t want to be exploited, foreigners getting exploited is the name of the game everywhere („tourist trap“, „out of state plates“ etc), and if it assuages the legendary Japanese hatred of the xeno to just passive aggressively stealth tax us then maybe that’s not so bad.
