      Well I just feel great that the wildflower garden I’ve been constructing over the past few months that is awash with bees currently can die off so our data centres can keep running without interruptions.

      hosepipe bans are dumb; you can still go to a commercial carwash machine which certainly uses more car than a person.

      My god we got 2 months of sun 6 months of rain so apart from data centres sucking up water that Leaves 5 months of rain in storage

      This is the straw that broke the camels back for me. Everyday I see a dozen examples of certain people/ parts of society being completely immune from laws, consequences, repressions of any kind.

      Lad close to us was beaten by 12 scrotes on e-scooters last weekend, and it took the guards SIX HOURS to respond.

      We either have a system that applies to all or you can **** off. I’ll be watering my lawn.

      Everyone who is whinging about the data centres should be aware that data centres in Ireland use 0.13% of the Irish water supply.

      Careful with those pitchforks, you won’t be able to wash them if they get dirty.

      It’s very interesting to observe that across every social media site I see of every variety there is essentially zero public buy in for water conservation, restrictions or bans.

      A sign of the times I’d say.

      this is obviously why my neighbour took the opportunity to spend three hours power washing the front of his house today then, between him and the data centres we probably only have hours of water left

      What is with people and the recent absolute obsession with data centres. They don’t use even 1% of total water usage and all we see is commenters after commenters getting hyped about them and shutting them down.

      It really goes to show how easy a few media articles on them gets people into an irrational frenzy.

      It’s like every few years something becomes a new target and those who usually latch do latch.

      *The warning is for Dublin, south Tipperary, parts of Kildare, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow. It has been issued due to the „exceptionally warm and dry weather“.*
      *The ban begins shortly after midnight on Thursday, and will remain in place until 26 August.*

      How are they going to police this ?

      When I’m watering my small flower bed,  how does anyone know that the water is coming from a tap or a water butt ?

      Six weeks is crazy, my garden will be in a sad state.

      Amazed so many people think it’s related to data centres, hosepipe bans are routine in droughts. It’s not unique to Ireland either

      We could do with a few more reservoirs that’s for sure.. It’s not like it’s not lashing for eight months of the year. It might take their mind off piping the waters of the Shannon up to Dublin

      How do you “ban hosepipes” like they have Garda go door to door? Flagging water usage per household? Neighbours can report each other anonymously?

      Billions for literally everything but unable to build more reservoirs. Every year the surprise hits that people water their lawn in dry spells and not in the winter. Bring on the ban, I’ll even water the trees behind our property.

      Every summer its the same propaganda to try to force people to pay shadowy business interests for water. And the government puts on the Surprised Pikachu face at the thought that, in a country with a rising population, they may need to dig more reservoirs and lay more pipe.

      Might be time for Irish water to scale up the efforts for water treatment plants and instead of pumping the treated water into the sea, putting it into the fresh water reservoirs.
