Clearly its a foreign concept in Japan

„What?! You going to take maternity leave.. how can you be so careless and unresponsible like that, you got a job to do you should have put your job above personal matter and remember work, work, work.“

    2. The fact that anybody has a problem with her maternity leave shows the culture isn’t serious about correcting issues contributing to the ever-declining birth rate.

    3. > But that wasn’t the case among members of the public, who’ve expressed varying views in thousands of X posts and several YouTube videos.

Not the most reliable way to gauge public opinion on any subject.

    4. Despite the backlash, I hope it takes precedence in the future. It’s sad that someone has to take all the heat and shit in the beginning until it becomes normal.

Public office shouldn’t be treated as a job…. The government isn’t a business. There should be no maternity leave for it.

Takaichi is wrong to. Public office isn’t for “work work work”
It’s to govern and represent the people.

Had no idea their maternity and paternity leave sucked so bad. I thought they wanted more babies.

And why explicitly 2 months BEFORE and 2 months after birth?

Oh man, I’m looking forward to settle down in Japan in 50 years and have some younger foreigner take care of me.
