    Besitzen Sie Ihr Haus?

    Besitzen deine Eltern?

Wie viel haben Sie/sie wann zu welchem Zinssatz gezahlt?

I’m nowhere near that kind of wealth wtf is going on here.
In fact I feel like I have less wealth as years pass by not more. (My parents own their house, I own nothing)

    2. My grandparents own, my parents own… I rent.
And it’s expensive. And yes I can probably find something cheaper. But the last 3 properties I visit for a rental, I was there with 20 to 30 other people… And as long as you don’t want to live at the edge of civilization… Housing prices are just stupid high for something subpar… Not including all the renovations you still have to do.

My parents own multiple housing units, I have made the conscious choice to rent, because I don’t see myself stay in Belgium.

I don’t think the information is correct, a median of 277k per household seems realistic, but the graph says per adult, I have my doubts about that but maybe I am wrong

    4. – I’m about to own my apartment, purchased for 280k at 3.05% interest with 80k down.
      – my parents own, I don’t know what the house cost them to build though but the ground was around 25k (30y ago). I don’t know the details of their loan, but it’s been paid off for about 10 years now. The house is probably worth 450 now.

    5. My mom owns her house. My dad was a renter until the bitter end. I live at my mom’s because I don’t have the kind of money to go out and so much as rent, so I don’t own any property.

I don’t know many people my age who actually own a home, and a lot of them also live with their parents for that reason.

    6. Everyone in my family who lives on their own, owns their house (me including).

      i paid 113k in 2018 (i was 25), at 1,25 variable rate.

    7. My bank owns my house until I’m close to pension age and it’s definitely not worth that much . I’m well in the 40′.

I own, my parents rent. And have been doing so for the last 30 years.

    10. houses is only on of the metrics.

I don’t own my house but I own a portfolio several time bigger than a house and reels in way more than an house appreciation and what’s spent on rent.

Housing prices are crazy everywhere. Take any paid villa (not literally any, but you know what I mean) owned by a couple and each would be above that median.

Some families put that median higher. In mine, 60% are above the median. Inflation did most of the job.

    12. >Do you own your house?

      Haha I dream I had a house.

      >Do your parents own?

Haha I dream my parents owned a house.

A median of 277k impresses me, all things I own combined would have a total value of about 5000€ if they were brand new. Which they aren’t.

I’m the only one who doesnt own, but I’m also the only one who’s still single. If I had a partner I’d have bought something by now (30 y.o.) loans are more doable with 2 incomes.

I own my house. It took me almost 20 years to pay off the loan at 4.2% & some help from my parents. But am gonna sell it & move out of Belgium.

My parents own their home. The bank owns half of my house, I own the other half.

I built a new house for around 500k, finished 3 years ago. I own the bank 275k at this point. 1,8% interest, loaned 330k in 23 years. Mortgage payment is 1450.

My parents had a much better deal. They built their house in 1987 for 62k euro. 12% interest to start though.

All my brothers and sisters own their home, or the bank strictly speaking.

    16. Parents each own (house/apartment), I also own, 455k€, renovation cost still climbing, and of course paying of the loan (not 100% sure, it’s 2.7 or 3% interest, but I also have certain insurance w the bank for some discount.)

    17. My parents both rent separately. I own, but only because my wife’s parents helped us get started. They both own.

    18. In my friends group (we are all around 30) 90% has bought a house the past 3 years, the ones who are renting is due to reasons (partner studying, breakup,…) more than inability.

Some of us have 25 year loans, others 20, one even 12.

We have bought in 2023 and have paid back 8% of the loan, on a 25 year loan. Due to renovations is now worth about 40k more than price+investment.

Nope. As a single I can’t afford to buy a house. And I am sadly enough not born into a family that can financially help. For the rest of my life I will pay a huge amount for someone else’s property and when I am old and worn out won’t have any money left to go to a retirement home. As a single you are f*cked. Especially in Belgium

    20. I own with my wife since last month, but still 25 years of mortgage to go.

Our newly built house is worth 850.000 EUR. We only have a mortgage for 200.000 at 1% at 11 years. We sold our previous house 4 years ago, which was fully paid. We are in our forties.
