      I think it’s overdue and not a joke, but really a welcome change. Is it going to solve the housing crisis on its own? No, but it is a piece of the puzzle.

I mean I get it, as a general rule of thumb, less regulation, especially needlessly convoluted one, is probably a good idea in a stagnant market but let’s also be realistic that this isn’t more than a drop of water on a hot stone and the existence of multiple building codes, as inconvenient as that may be, is hardly a major cause for the current situation. If anything it will most likely slightly boost the profit margins of developers rather than offer meaningful added value to private people or address any of the structural flaws of our model.

      Also, announcing it is one thing, implementation a different. I would frankly be surprised if communes won’t put up a fight on this to be honest.

      Will builders use these cost saving measures to pass on price reductions to buyers, or will they simply enjoy increasing their margins? Don’t bother, we all know the answer.
