As the Greeks land under a hail of rocks, Thetis rises from the waves to warn that the first to touch Trojan soil will die, but Protesilaus leaps ashore regardless and falls at the spear of Hector, before Achilles kills the invincible Cycnus with a hurled rock, breaks the Trojan ranks, and the long brutal siege of Troy begins.
