    1. Good luck with that.

He is Jordanian, they don’t extradite their citizens. He made it to Turkey, getting to Jordan wouldn’t be too hard especially as he apparently has contacts in Turkey to help him.

Also, isn’t it strange how he was supposedly here for asylum and was granted subsidiary protection here, but had no qualms about running back to the middle east and hopped on the first available flight?

I wonder how the Department of Justice reached the conclusion that he was in need of protection, when it seems fairly clear that he actually was not.

It’s genuinely baffling why it took several days before he was named publicly. I don’t think it’s right for people to jump on the usual bandwagon and fall for the usual tropes of the Tommy Robinson brigade, but at the same time if those people are screaming “conspiracy!!” and then weird decisions like this are made, it only adds weight to it.

    3. Horrific, this was a well needed example, and the government had failed at every marker up until this guy even met this woman and now this? How is he in an IPAS and allowed to travel with his passport (assuming he was truthful about having it and didn’t pretend he came through the UK by boat from France, then from the North). How did we have such heavy restrictions for Covid travel but then someone claiming international protection can ? It’s also sickening that he likely used a bus pass to get to Dublin and then Irish tax money to pay for the flight? We funded his escape!

Where is Independent Ireland (II) on this? They’re the anti immigration crowd and they’re sharing power

Edit: I got II mixed up with the group of independents sharing power

    5. As always the indolence of the authorities and the media is fueling the far right. They have learned nothing.

This case may well be a fascinating one for our IPAS system. We obviously need to harden our attitude towards the appeals process and the IPAS system overall. Perhaps we should build a large detention centre that no one can come or go from until they are absolutely approved with status. Take the low security hotelier racket out of it and give life back to the towns it has been robbed of

I keep looking at this woman with a feeling of helplessness

Do we know if he is a Jordanian citizen or a Palestinian citizen in Jordan? I think it would make a big difference for extradition

On the news the other day, they couldn’t identify this man for „legal reasons“. What has changed since then?

We are on the same road as most European countries, just a few years behind

It is baffling that in Ireland a violent criminal could be roaming about and be a danger to the public at large, but the Gardai will refuse to issue „have you seen this man“ type warnings to the public. I mean, do they refuse to do this because they actively want the public in danger, or do they just not want the public’s help? Just look at the recent case of Jason Spence roaming around Ireland- a dangerous child rapist- but look lads, no need to worry about it.

    11. We’re a joke of a country. This lad seeking asylum yet had the means to get a plane to Turkey. We are a soft touch.

The fact that people are being horrible in a murdered woman’s instagram comments beggars belief

I’m not part of the right or left, but can we stop completely vilifying the right. This right here proves that there is something clearly wrong with the asylum system and it is being abused and the concerns of some people who would be considered “far right” is not outlandish. If someone can come into this country and claim “asylum”, be granted accommodation by the taxpayer, and then have the ability to murder someone and hop on a flight right back to where they claimed they were fleeing “persecution” then there is clearly something wrong here.

They’ll make this out to be another fringe asylum case.

They are not sending their best.

He can’t be extradited for „questioning“ AFAIK, only if he’s being charged ?

Ireland’s progressive consensus is careering head-first into reality. I’d be happy if it weren’t that I see no reason to think our politicians will be held to account.

I can already hear the politicians saying “it’s not fair to talk about an individual case”

I hope someone shuts down her instagram soon the horrific things people are commenting are disturbing. Her poor daughter.

Lads we have to thread a fairly thin line here. The person mentioned in the article is a „person of interest“. He has not been named as a suspect although it is heavily implied. We have a whole load of comments basically naming him as a murderer which does break our no speculation rule and online comments can hinder potential court cases.
