I wish the people who vote for attacking science could understand how much it’s going to hurt the US economy. And how the living standards will drop as a result. But they probably won’t even be alive to really see the long term effects.
What’s happening to American science and research is beyond sad, at the same time I would expect a scientist to have more moral grounding than to sell out their expertise to an authoritarian regime that is a self professed enemy of the broader western world. There’s countless countries that haven’t positioned themselves as a threat to global democracy, freedom, and stability he could have decided to contribute to. Shame on him.
This is the future America wanted.
