      Well they were paying tax to a country they weren’t even living in so that’s a win at least.

      I wonder how many others like him are there. I fully support working from home and I am remote employee myself but there should be some kind of mechanism to verify where the employees are.

      It is the actions of the few guys like this that has ruined „Work from Home“ for the majority of us, and forced more demanding RTO requirements by employers

      Delighted to see a sensible WRC ruling. How could he think he would win this one?

      You see questions about this all the time, and people chancing it, but it’s so easy for companies to uncover.

      What a dishonest and nasty individual. He lied about where he was repeatedly and then accused his supervisor of bullying. I’m surprised he didn’t use the racism card while he was at it. The audacity of him to take a case to the WRC

      It was dumb to leave Dublin and work from India while on PIP in the first place. It was even more moronic to bring this to the WRC after getting the sack. Now his name will appear anytime a hiring manager searches him.

      I know of a case where someone was doing something similar, albeit in a EU country, and as well as getting paid via their Irish employer they were also claiming disability benefits locally in their home country.

      I also came across another case where a manager allowed an employee to work from France full time but paid them via Ireland, and the Company got into trouble in France as they should have been paying social secuity contributions in France as the employee was domiciled there.

      This kind of piss taking is relatively common with wfh. I’ve had a few colleagues who were clearly abroad when taking calls when they weren’t supposed to be.

      Writing is on the wall for many employees. Why should big corpos pay Irish salaries if you can outsource to India and the like for 25% of the price

      The audacity of some people taking cases to the WRC…. Was already on a PIP when it emerged he was working from outside the EU without telling his employer.

      I wonder what his permit was and if he’s still in Ireland now he’s been fired. This WRC case has just plastered his name and PIP all over the internet, so it won’t make finding a new job easier. But I’ve seen a lot of people who arrive on work permits and get fired end up staying in Ireland long-term somehow.

      I worked from Spain for a month last year. Nobody was any the wiser. Doing it again this year for 6 weeks.

      Seen this time and time again. Our company put in a policy because with the working from home they knew people were doing it anyway so might as well put in a policy to monitor it. I spoke to some of the Indians and their attitude was they were not going to change what they were doing, management would never find out, and as far as they were concerned the company should be counting their lucky stars that they had them as employees. Honestly insane levels of arrogance and contempt for the rest of us
