The gays will be taking removing Egypt as a travel destination and taking their business elsewhere.

    2. Islam needs to grow up and join the 21st century. There’s fundies from most religions that are ignorant bigots, but not 48 nations worth of them.

And yes, I get it, other nations are influenced by religions to be anti-lgtbq. But there aren’t christian theocracies outside the Vatican, and even the Vatican is a safe place to live as a gay person.

I have an openly gay teenage son, and if I’m looking at places where he can safely study abroad I can pretty much cross out any Muslim majority nation. Honestly my progressive strong opinioned daughter should stay out of them too. And my wife.

If I was gay, I would never step one foot in Egypt. They did them a favor.

Not to victim blame, but do gay cruises generally travel to Muslim countries?

    5. Frankly we shouldn’t be patronizing them anyway, if they’re actively anti queer. Like, why are stupid queens still going to Dubai??? Get your act together, Mary.

    6. As a gay men, I would never go on a cruise that would go remotely close to any country where homosexuality is illegal.

    7. I don’t even get why LGBT would want to spend money in a country where they are discriminated against

Ever notice that there’s a bit of an overlap between nations and regions with poor quality of life and ones that are hostile to the LGBT community?

Where is the queers for palestine crew now? All these Arab countries are the same

    10. This is a surprise to no one. As a gay man, I would only go to one middle eastern country – Israel. Not sure why so many LGBT and feminists are for Palestine and Islam when they do not respect our rights to even exist. Cue the pink washing comments.

Please someone tell me they are working on the screen play….a boat of gay men travel the high seas looking for love, fun …..and acceptance. A reverse fantasy island theme?

    12. Finally is happening, the gays are attacking!

Anyhow, why would any gay man want to go into countries where they stone people for said cause ?

Why say “mostly gay men” when “All Gay Men and Patti LuPone” was right there?

    14. I really don’t understand the thought process here.

They would be welcome in so many amazing places. Why are they sailing around where they are obviously not welcome? Even if they allowed them to dock, why would you want to spend your money in a country that very openly discriminates against you?

It’s shit like this that does more harm than good to the community. Gives more ammo to the „stop shoving it down our throat“ critics.

Why the hell would they try to dock a GAY cruise in the middle east??? I’d love to understand!

    16. Last time they talked about this ship, Egypt was going to let them dock.

If they need to dock somewhere, Tel Aviv would be happy to let them land and show them a good time.

And Virgin Voyages will still do business in both countries, because they don’t care as long as there’s money to be made.

    18. Why would a gay cruise want to go to Egypt? The country is an absolute shithole with the most unsympathetic people I have ever met. I can’t imagine how terrible that would be for a gay person. Of the 50-something countries I have visited, Egypt is the only one I would never visit again.

I can’t believe the country with widespread female genital mutilation isn’t a beacon of progressivism

Why would you choose go to a Muslim country as a gay man?

They’re not changing their stance on homosexuality in your lifetime.

You can just say the U.S. Navy… you don’t need to bring their personal preferences into it

Oh my god. Who could have seen this coming?

      ….Literally everyone.

I also read one of the gay cruises that next year plan to start in Saudi Arabia….I honestly don’t think they will be able to dock in any of the ports except for Eliat . Maybe also Aqaba…but both Turkey and Egypt are also legal and they turned this cruise away. And one of the ports is in Egypt so….yeah.

    23. lekker-boterham on

They’re telling you that you aren’t welcome, it’s best to keep it moving. We’re talking about incredibly harsh places to be for the LGBT community. Homosexuality is strongly rebuked in these countries, why would an outwardly gay cruise even plan to dock?

    24. insertbrackets on

I did this cruise back in November but it was in very gay friendly (or gay agnostic in places) Southeast Asia. I’m not really sure why they booked this route. It’s perplexing.

    25. That’s a headline if I ever saw one „Egypt/Turkey block gay men from docking“

    26. russian_hacker_1917 on

i feel like some super old triangle bois are the only thing redeeming about this country

My fellow homos, remember things like this when you put that watermelon emoji in your Scruff profile. You may not like what Israel’s doing, but this constant defense of Gaza and the Muslim world is insane. Most of them would kill you as soon as look at you.

    28. Efectodopler117 on

      Ok, why the middle east?

Like, these arent the most pro LGBT people, so why even trying to go there?
