Not just visiting, anybody departing Japan will have this departure tax added on, residents, both Japanese and foreign. I wish these extra fees were just for tourists

I don’t even remember paying anything last year…at what point of traveling back does it have to be paid?

yes.. because when a fiat currency is struggling the last thing they would want to do is to have people coming to buy that currency.. o wait..
