Hispanic/Latino is an ethnicity, not a race. You can be any race but also Hispanic/Latino. Latino just means you come
from or have heritage from Latin America, while Hispanic refers specifically to Hispanophone countries.

For example, Afro-Brazilians and Afro-Colombians are both Black and Latino. Mestizo Mexicans are Indigenous, Latino and White.

San Francisco is actually more Asian than Alameda County (and significantly more East Asian). The subtlety of using „predominant“ to mean plurality in highly diverse countries like Alameda.

    3. Not sure about the other states with singular green counties…but in Minnesota (Mahnomen County) and Wisconsin (Menominee County), those counties lie entirely on reservations. Menominee County and the Menominee reservation share almost the shame borders, I believe there are a few parcels here and there that aren’t part of both, but don’t remember 100%. Mahnomen County is entirely within the White Earth Reservation, but the reservation includes parts of other counties.

What is this source considers Latino a race? Definitely ain’t the census or the courts.

I know the census classifation is clumsy but white is still the majority when picking from the selection:

      White Hispanic
      Black Hispanic
      Asian Hispanic
      Indigenous Hispanic
      Multiracial Hispanic

Of course we are all a hodge podge of DNA and the whole one-drop racial schema in the USA is bullshit. So these classifications could use fixing. Which is why Ethnic groups and national origin get title VII protections.

Voting patterns in the last election suggest a faster level of assimilation- which makes sense in a digital world- than the 4 previous giant waves of Catholic immigrants (South Germany, Ireland, Italy, Central Europe).

I’d be curious how this map looked in 1900 if you showed counties where English was not the majority language or even taught in primary schools. A lot of German in the midwest.

Meanwhile conservatives are like „they are trying to make us the minority!“

    6. ~~Bunk map. Wayne County, MI is dead wrong. How many other counties are wrong?~~

    7. I’m surprised Oklahoma doesn’t have a green county or two. Am I wrong that there’s large native American population there?

    8. I know you lying! Hawaii is definitely not predominantly white. Too many Asians for it to be white!

This map shows the largest group, not the majority. A lot of these red counties are not majority white.

MAGA wants you to believe the red on the map are “victims” of reverse racism.

I’ve lived in four different counties across the US and none of them have been predominantly white

Arizona is complete bullshit. We have so many blacks and Mexicans lol

I feel like this would look better as census-tract level data, and maybe different colors too.

Wait there’s no black people in America? That’s a little weird, I mean there were multiple shooting in Chicago over the weekend sooo
