    1. It’s the fault of all other countries for allowing this to happen. FIFA is a clown organization, there should be a protest

    2. I’m now supporting Belgium, and that hurts me as a French.

      Allez les diables.

sad thing is, look at [r/ussoccer](https://www.reddit.com/r/ussoccer/)
95% of them are cheering and are calling this blatant corruption a positive thing because they think they never deserved the red card anyway.

even if that was true, wrong calls happen but only the US gets them overturned like this.

      # The VAR protocol warns against slow-mo for judging foul intent and intensity, and is against VAR protocol.[](/r/worldcup/?f=flair_name%3A%22%F0%9F%92%ACDiscussion%22)

It seems like a lot of people are ignoring this.

      The real disagreement is:

One group wants to say it’s corrupt to suspend a red card, even if the red card was unfairly given and broke protocol.

One group wants to say we should not care if there was political motivation to undo a red card since it broke the rules in the first place.

Does this mean that you can get any red card overturned? From now on, or retroactive from the start of the World Cup?

Could get interesting for lawyers then 😅

    7. Tbh I didn’t think his red card was a red card but this again corruption as clear as day.

When the fifa president is an puppet of trump you can’t expect normal things to happen. What do you expect from the country who calls this sport soccer

The U.S. is a huge market. They don’t want to alienate a cinderella story that is worth billions. I don’t know if this is corruption but it is just the way it is in sports. Sports aren’t sports. They are entertainment.

Can some tell me when this happened the last time? I can’t think of once at least since 2000.

    11. USMNT fan here. Now that our slob has put his disgusting fingers in this I hope Belgium smokes the WC.

I’ve seen all kinds of referee errors or blatant injustices (anyone remembers Korea in 2002?) and never FIFA reverted them. I wouldn’t be surprised at this point if matches were considered invalid when Trump doesn’t like the result.

    13. didn’t realize Folarin Balogun was the undisputed goat of soccer with the way europeans are crying about this

    14. We weten allemaal dat de finale tss de vs en Argentinië gaat zijn. Fifafoefelareee
