I was left a bit confused by this as I couldn’t understand how these 11 helped from a scientific standpoint. Read a bit more:
Apparently, before these tests, scientists did not know if motion sickness was caused by the stomach, the eyes, psychological fear, or the inner ear. These 11 helped prove it was the inner ear’s vestibular system.
honestly had no idea this was even a thing, the Gallaudet 11 doing centrifuge and isolation experiments specifically *because* their vestibular systems worked differently is such a cool example of a perceived limitation actually being useful data.
This is really cool. IWTO – I never knew about this until today.
