Yeah, cause you definitely want the very obvious Republican to start speaking more on politics George.

What do I care about the rock’s politics?

I thought we moved on from the idea that celebrity endorsements matter. Unless they have an actual valuable input I don’t really care.

    3. Does no one remember the last time the rock tried? he was mocked and called out of touch, You can’t have it both ways, some people aren’t well spoken in such things and don’t want to be put in a position where they can only say „I’m for the current thing“ because they were too busy working on films

    4. LostInLittleroot on

Dude is a corporation in human form. His politics are whoever gives him the most $$$

    5. TheNakedOracle on

Who gives a shit? If a plumber is overtly evil I’m not gonna hire him but otherwise just fix my sink.

    6. For those asking why he should speak out.

He has spoke out in the past but now doesnt for „fear of division“.

He is part of the TKO group, who are the parent company of WWE these days, who have direct ties to Trump and his admin.

Thats why him not speaking out loud anymore is being seen as otherwise complicit.

If you’re somebody who cares about Dwyane Johnson’s political views, and actually has an interest in his affiliation, you’re ngmi.

    8. Vadermaulkylo on

Not once have I ever thought “hmmmm I wonder what The Rock thinks about these issues ?”

    9. Ordinary-Difficulty9 on

These celebrities are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. I have also seen many articles on how celebrities should shut up, stay in their lane, and stop spouting off about politics and just stick to acting.

They can’t win. Anything they do say is twisted and used against them. I don’t blame him for deciding to just stay out of it and not trying to influence other people’s religious beliefs.

    10. It a movie star not talking about politics really some kind of extraordinary outlier?

Maybe I don’t pay attention enough.

    11. Ah yes, the beacon of political ideology, Dwayne Johnson.

What will we do without his political opinions?

    12. Late-Mathematician-6 on

This is why trumf got elected. The left always saying you’d better do it our way. No one will ever want that. If we could just stop drawing lines in the sand and focus on actually connecting with those that don’t think the way we do.

    13. HalfACenturyMark on

The far left has proven that they will try and wreck anyone who doesn’t get in line with everything on their agenda, so what purpose would it serve anyone who wants to sell tickets to be politically vocal? It’s just never going to be enough.

    14. I personally hate actors and actresses talking about politics, if I want to hear about politics I will listen to people in the know not some millionaire who pretends they are other people for a living

    15. TheVioletEmpire on

I don’t give a shit what Dwayne Johnson thinks and I don’t give a shit what George Takei thinks. These people are entertainers. We made the mistake of an electing an entertainer as President. We should learn to keep them separate.

    16. extrastupidone on

Dwayne doesnt want to alienate half his fans. Politics is toxic, the internet has made it worse.

Take Nate bargatze.. dude is funny, wholesome comedy, not political in his jokes. He has one picture taken at a trump event and suddenly millions of people hate him.

I dont blame some of these celebs who just „shut up and dribble“ because doing otherwise would hurt their livelihood.

    17. He’s an actor, his target audience is everyone who is alive and watches movies

Why cut off any part of his audience by revealing who or what he supports?

There’s a literally financial incentive to saying nothing when saying the wrong thing can tank a 200 million dollar project

    18. bluecheese2040 on

Anyone that says silence is complicity is deeply suspect and should be ostracised. They should care about their own actions.

    19. „If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech, all right? You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world, most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. If you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God and f-ck off.“

      -Ricky Gervais. Golden Globes, 2020.

If only more celebrities took notice. Kinda glad The Rock and Jennifer Lawrence are.

    20. Why are you all like this? Canceling people for literally no reason. It’s strange. What does Demi more think about the US government making anthropic repeal fable 5? Or how does Toby McGuire feel about GTA VI launching with no physical disk?! Does every celebrity in the world have to weigh in on every issue? wtf?

    21. Enough-Silver-915 on

Its nobody’s business what the rocks politics are. Don’t like it? Thats your problem.

    22. Objective-Scar-2955 on

People are idiotic they complain about actors being political and then when they are not

    23. Why do people like putting celebrities through purity tests? Who gives a fuck what they think about politics.

    24. Embarrassed_Use6918 on

Caring about celebrity opinions is what got us Trump and look how that turned out

    25. Im no fan of Dwayne, but fuck me if I was a celebrity the last thing I would want to be doing is talking politics publicly.

    26. He doesn’t have to tell anybody s*** just because he’s famous doesn’t mean he has to tell you everything he believes or does. Do you really want to be treated like that if you want to keep your opinions to yourself.

    27. This is the same logic that gets us to „If you don’t date a trans person, you hate trans people.“

      Absolute ridiculous far left bullshit.

    28. blueblocker2000 on

I think it’s smart. I don’t ask my plumber for electrical advice. Same for corporations. Shut up and sell stuff. Get outta politics!

    29. AthenasChosen on

Counter point: Can we stop obsessing over celebrity opinions on politics? Who cares what they think

    30. Commercial_Rule_7823 on

      Sorry, but silence is best.

It would be nice if we didn’t get to hear opinions from celebrities and sports stars who have no education in a matter, experience, or expertise.

They just get the mic because of who they are, nothing else. And unfortunately people think their word is gospel, and its usually far from it.

    31. TrikeCinema on

Rock knows like others do that the second you open your mouth, you risk cutting your fan base in half. Also, I love Takei but feeling like celebs should be our measuring stick for political thoughts is weird. Not every entertainer needs to be an activist or be bullied into „saying the words, or else“ type shit.

    32. bimmershark on

I mean honestly i dont blame him its a lose lose. We see it all the time people shit on mark ruffalo having an opinion (as an American citizen like the rest of us ) .

Then ya got your Rob Schneider and dean Cains .

So it’s either shut up no one cares , or they become the next b lister that maga loves.

    33. VeryLowIQIndividual on

Silence is not complicity, a lot of times silence for your own sanity. I’m sure he’s working the angle where he doesn’t wanna lose a potential ticket buyer also if he comes out and starts being pro whatever that’s all he’s ever gonna be able to talk about. That will be the only thing he gets asked.

I am so sick of having conversations about politics and political figures. I don’t even wanna get into it. This administration is drag on society and I’m not gonna change my mind on that. I have a lot more proof that what I’m saying is true and that’s all I need to know for myself. I don’t need to have an argument with everybody I walk up to.

    34. TheIronMonkey53 on

So basically the left is condoning public shaming of anyone who doesn’t agree with them. That’s a great recruitment method
