I’m ok with that, let’s support the families and friends of those that keep the russians at bay, it’s the least we can do.
My grandparents are neighbors to an old Hotel where Ukrainians stay and so far I’ve only had good experiences with them, grandma said last winter one of the younger guys even came over early in the morning to shovel snow.
Another I talked to, a young woman, had learned to speak in local dialect within the last 3 years and while she still has a strong accent I felt pretty impressed by how well she was doing, from what I know she was on her way to get a working Visa so she doesn’t have to stay on social assistance.
So, from my personal experience I would say that we would do ourselfs a favour if we tried to make friends with them and let them integrate when and where possible.
After being here for over five years, it should be easy to find a job. Even if the job market and the languages are tough here. So I really don’t get why people should get more money if they fail to do the basic thing. Also, it was always supposed to be temporary, so integration shouldn’t be the goal.
If you re here for 5 years and still cant find any kind of job. You should be kicked the f out.
Good decision. Federation doesn’t influence integration but pays the money. It’s not fair. Cantons should bear the consequences of their failure to provide and demand integration and stimulate job search.
Problem is these people are not here to work and integrate. They are here to live the dream for free, sponsored by the taxpayers. They will leave the country as soon as they have to work to survive.
To the downvoters: Why do you think a refugee would flee 3000 kms to the west, if there are numbers of safe countries right at the border?
Most Ukrainians I’ve met (and I’ve met many) here, including women, are all already working and paying taxes, most of them since soon after they got here, unless they’re already past retirement age or a single mother with a husband still in Ukraine (and they’re still working part time). Anecdotal, sure, but these articles and some of these comments piss me off, they’re hard working people who don’t want to be seen as getting a free meal.
It’s a good thing that I love 🌈paying taxes🌈
