Hey y’all in the USA, the House is going to vote on the KIDS act today, this is a censorship bill is what it is, it’s unconstitutional is what it is, if the KIDS act is signed into law by the President, the internet will never be the same again. The KIDS act would force age verification on the ENTIRE internet. Imagine you just bought a new iPhone and you’re signing into it for the first time, boom, verify your age please, either hand over your government ID or submit to a face scan. Or say you wanna download an app from the app store on your phone, boom, verify your age please, either hand over your government ID or submit to a face scan. It would also force social media companies to verify your age so want to create a Reddit account? Boom! Either hand over your government ID or submit to a face scan.
To think this is what could happen to our internet here in the USA! The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) and the KIDS act are unconstitutional because it violates the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution. The age verification part of the bill violates the 4th Amendment, because it’s an unlawful search.
The House is voting on the KIDS act today! So real quick, call your senators and tell them that KOSA and the KIDS act are unconstitutional, tell them it violates the 1st Amendment. Tell them they’re using kids as the excuse to try and pass these censorship bills. They’re using kids to try and walk all over our 1st Amendment right to freedom of speech. The government is NOT allowed to control our speech (says the 1st Amendment).
Say you live in California just Google „California senators numbers“ and it should give you their Washington D.C. phone number, call that number and you should be able to talk to someone on the phone. Tell them that they’re trying to create a nanny state and they’re using kids as the excuse. If KOSA and the KIDS act are ever signed into law, it will bring a lot of censorship to the internet. Like I said, it violates the 1st Amendment. It’s unconstitutional. So the House is going to vote on the KIDS act today at 6:30 p.m. (I think Eastern time) so call your senators today and tell them how you feel.
If you have to show your government ID or have your face scanned just to access social media, I mean this is the end of privacy, this means you can’t be anonymous anymore! This means you have no privacy anymore! And let me tell you, in the USA this violates the 1st and 4th Amendments of the US Constitution!
Because many of you have probably never read it, the 4th Amendment of the United States Constitution:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The 1st Amendment of the US Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
„Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech“
Btw those flock cameras that are popping up all over the place, violate the 4th Amendment. Indeed the flock cameras have already been sued based on the 4th and it’s currently heading to the Supreme Court to be settled once and for all.
Oh and then what if all this data they’re collecting on us gets hacked? It’s already happened! „Discord breach hits 68,000 Australians. Data leak exposes ID selfies ahead of age ban.“ [https://ia.acs.org.au/article/2025/discord-breach-hits-68-000-australians.html](https://ia.acs.org.au/article/2025/discord-breach-hits-68-000-australians.html)
Call your senators right now and tell them your opinion on this very important matter. They’re public servants, don’t forget that, they work for us.

There are ways to verify age without compromising people’s privacy; unfortunately, we know the US government does not care about that.

It blows my mind that even the EFF, of all places, refers to the KIDS act as „age verification“ when to „verify your age“ it is required to UPLOAD you GOVT ID and a realtime image of your face. That is ID verification, not age.

Surely it’s just a cover up for enforcing online identity check, they’re preparing for upcoming „agentic AI“ future with liability for agents and their masters

Honestly less anonymity on the Internet is probably a good thing at this point. Too many bad people are allowed to get away with bad things online.

Don’t we already essentially do this with having to enter our birthday , address and details with every single thing on the internet through. I just gave away all that details yesterday to get free wifi on the god dam airplane. They already know all this.

I’m assuming this is an america-only bit of nonsense?
Still, if it happened in my country, I’d just not use those sites. If it was for all network activity, I’d be buying a shiny new set of encyclopedias.

It’s equivalent to sending a photocopy of your ID in the envelope of any letter you send in the post office to allow the censors to know exactly who it is that they are monitoring. Even Stalin would think it’s a bit too much

If I ever get an age verification prompt I’m just going to enter the wrong age anyways. But if something asked for my ID I never going to supply it.

You’re gonna hate hearing this but… you just aren’t that important. Your government knows who you are and what you do, but… you just aren’t that important. The companies you deal with on a daily basis know who you are and what you do but… you just aren’t that important… conversely, if you’re a creepy pedo, I’ll be glad they have an all seeing eye on you.

I would love to have a government issued ID with a USB interface with public-private key cryptography. It would be great to sign something online and the vendor could verify my identity by checking with the government. It would allow real signatures online.
An offshoot of this is age verification. The sane technology would allow age verification without identify verification. I’d like to see a standard for this get widely adopted.

I don’t understand how no one is talking about getting everyone to leave the internet. Everyone simultaneously cutting off the isp. Do you think they’ll then start to complain, sing a different tune. Revenues is all they know, so take that away from them. There’s no reason to be there unless it’s for work. It’s summer. Delete, unsubscribe cancel all services. As for phones, only use it to call, no texting. Do you not all think they’ll switch their thoughts? I know they will. Money talks. We have the fucking power. Stop complaining, you’re only a number to them, this $ 👈 number.
