This tracks, I saw someone beat up an innocent person on the train last week and nobody did a damn thing

This again. Obviously we don’t know the whole story in details but some people came out to explain this was a couple back from a wedding, the woman was drunk as.
Im not saying this is 100% verified, and yes the husband might not be good to his wife. But I saw so many comments from people jumping to the conclusion that this was a kidnapping without knowing the context. Even the person who took this video, shouldn’t title it the way they did. No way to know the whole situation.
Plus think about it, a kidnapping in front of everyone in a taxi in Shibuya? Both people dressed for a celebration (most likely a wedding). The guy taking the time to gather their stuff that fell on the floor in front of everyone? Maybe it is but there is also a good chance that it is not, yet I’ve seen several posts titled « kidnapping in broadlight in Japan » and hundreds of comments saying this country sucks yada yada.
I don’t know dude, people loves to shit on Japan anytime they can. Should probably be careful before saying anything about something they have no real clue about.
Again I’m not saying this is 100% not a kidnapping, I obviously hope the woman is fine. But please consider the situation and stop being so vindicative about an entire population when you see content out of context.

It’s almost certainly a domestic dispute.
And hopefully a divorce or breakup soon.
Hard to believe someone would try to kidnap someone this way with so many witnesses.
And Japanese people have an overwhelming sense of not getting involved in other peoples business.
This is just sensationalist to hype this up as a kidnapping.

You can kidnap your own wife.

That’s not true.
If people were confident it’s a situation where they can help, they would.
Domestic disputes, fights between drunk people, etc. are not great situations to get yourself involved in. You don’t know what’s going on. They can both turn against you in an instant.

This is the reason why Johatsu occurred very frequently among women because self defense law almost doesn’t exist here.
