A huge contradiction in my opinion. Beautiful towns, cities, culture and history. But also a massive fucking shithole.

Speaking as a person that is from the west and only visited Presovsky region.
Its nature is beautiful, has some absolutely stunning places. Might be the prettiest region actually imo.
But the people there – mostly elderly, older people. Youth left for Bratislava/Kosice or abroad. Some tough backwards thinking people there, reminiscing of the “old days” (socialism/communism). Probably because everyone was miserable back then and now its mainly just them.
So in conclusion, it is a sad region, as its so beautiful yet so overlooked and underrated. At least thats how I see it.
I am from there. Slower lifestyle than bratislava, the younger people that are there are super chill and nice. I love going home and will definitely move back in a few years. No jobs tho, unless you work in healthcare pretty much. I speak the dialect with pride

this region is so diverse, many ethnic minorities. unfortunately this part of slovakia is least developed economically and infrastructurally. there are “hunger valleys” people tend to to leave this part of country in order to find a job in different parts of slovakia or abroad

Half of my family is from there. Nature is stunning, people are lovely and open. Not really open minded, but you cannot have it all…
About the dialect. There are so many of them. From Gorals in Dunajec gorge through Saris region all the way east to Rusyns. Every dialect is slightly different with its own specialities and whole culture. It is not only about language, but also traditions, folk music, dances and so on
