I suspect the Russian economy is as brittle now as it was a half a century ago when I studied in Leningrad.
And possibly more so, given that a higher percentage of the populace, as in all other countries, now live away from historical family or community farmsteads.
You can only keep your head in the sand only so long, Russia.
You screw Ukraine, you will be screwed back with huge interest with very long term consequence.
You allowed Putin to lead Russia into destruction and what you got is grim future with accelerated shrinking of populations from lack of young males of marriage age and lasting distrust of west not likely to help as much when Soviet Union imploded.
You will be at the whim of China for life support.
A „bright“ future indeed for Russia assuming it doesn’t implode for the second time.

Oh you bet…. I’m sure Russia will surrender any moment. History shows us that Russia is regularly conquered, and the population is weak and ineffective, and it’s not like they have nukes or anything. It’s not like they have experience in a war of attrition or anything like that. It’s not like they have millions and millions more people each and every one of them ready to sacrifice their lives for their motherland or anything like that. I’m sure they will cave any moment and become another vassal of the EU and NATO 👀
It’s been apparent since 2022 that Russia has been on a long slide to having their “last chopper from Saigon” moment in Ukraine. It might take several more years to get there but inevitably they will.

This is such an interesting dynamic.
Russias economy is in serious danger, as is Putins support and the militaries logistics.
At the same time, Ukraine is getting slowly pushed back and possibly encircled (currently functionally but not literally) in the most significant area of the fortress belt – the most defended area, most essential to Ukrainian logistics, undefended for many miles afterwards, and also the most key to Russias claim to Donbas.
It’s a truly 2020s kind of race. Nothing like it has happened that I can recall, such completely different methods of achieving victory being so competitive.
Amazing job to Ukraine though, making this as tight as it is, when the odds were so stacked against them.

You guys are delusional if you think that very effective air strikes will be sufficient to end the war, Ukraine is just starting to do what Russia is doing all over Ukraine from 2022, did the Ukrainians rebel against the government or did Ukrainian economy completely default?
And most important you’re forgetting that Russia is backed by China, not blatantly for now but they will never allow a defeat for Russia because a weak Russia at their border or worse a western allined new Russia is just not ideal.
By the way, I did not see any article about how half of Kostantinivka Is infiltrated by Russians and that if god forbid the city is lost then there will be no more major urban area until Kramatorsk.
