Yeah, but they do less paid work as well. Not sure why this is unusual, if you are a stay at home parent you will naturally do more unpaid work and there are simply more female stay at home parents in japan.

The missing information is is the women a SAHM? If so it totally makes sense. If they both work then this becomes an issue
