Pilot saw iranian drones in a jellyfish formation all moving as one. Sounds like they pulled off that meshed networking thing where one controls a bunch.

If its real this ups the game for swarm attacks way beyond what intel expected. US guys are still debating if the pilot had it straight after the crash.

      Article:

“A US fighter jet pilot rescued by special forces after being shot down over Iran in April described a shocking sight before ejecting from his aircraft: multiple Iranian drones hovering in the air, moving as one, in a formation that resembled a jellyfish, according to four sources familiar with the matter.

The account, which has not been previously reported, was shared by the F-15 pilot with intelligence officials during a debriefing after the incident. It immediately set off a firestorm of debate within the US intelligence community that has yet to be resolved.

If the airman really saw what he described — a formation moving in unison — it would be an alarming advance in Iranian drone capabilities.”

I would not enjoy the sight of a flock of drones to be my last moments.

Glad the pilot has been rescued

Swarm robotics I can see being used like acting like a shield to protect bigger missiles or other massive weapons. If you have seen the movie Ender’s Game, it would be similar to the final battle scene

Boy do I wish I didn’t choose a joking reference to living in a Transformers fan story back in 2023 when I created this account.

Or not, maybe I’m just prescient.

The first item listed in the Agentic Drone capabilities is “swarm coordination”.

I am a regular person in the world with zero military background and I am aware of this technology. Why would our military act like this is some mind-blowing stuff?

Are they doing this so the general public isn’t alarmed when they see it? This just seems so dumb.

    6. could be the same technology used for drone shows, moving in unison, making shapes in the sky, a fake fireworks display or an American flag say. What evidence is there that autonomous behavior was involved ?, because the pilot said it was ‘jelly fish’ shaped?

Swarm tactics are the nightmare scenario for modern air defense because they saturate the sensors and overwhelm the target acquisition cycle. If they are actually using a coordinated formation like that, it suggests they have moved beyond simple loitering munitions into networked swarm intelligence that can adjust to evasive maneuvers in real time. We are seeing the end of the era where a single expensive airframe can dominate the sky without a massive support net.

    8. Anyone who has ever seen a drone light show is not surprised. If they can light up the sky in perfect formation, why couldn’t they also „light up“ an enemy target.

While I have my doubts that Iran would invest their limited funds into drones with swarm intelligence when cheap and petty seems to be doing just fine, I wouldn’t be surprised if China wouldn’t be more than happy to try out their drones in a real-life scenario…

I’m not understanding, how are these drone swarms different than say any of the drone light shows that go on at big events like concerts, festivals, and sporting events, etc? Like in the link below, all those drones are linked together either through a mesh network or some kind of other communication protocol to be synced with each other in order to make the shapes and sequence the lighting. Shit at the end of the video the drones are shooting off fireworks.
