LOL, funniest part is that in their local search engines the term, „How to suck benzine“ spiked through the roof because people want to steal it from their neighbours.

Have they thought about just not having lives that depend on gasoline? They could have prepared for the eventuality that their entire national petrochemical infrastructure might collapse in hubris.

    3. Super. Deshalb wird Speiseöl bald auch unerschwinglich sein. Was kommt als Nächstes? Brot? Ach ja—dafür braucht man Getreide. Aber die Mähdrescher haben keinen Diesel. Dann wird es interessant.

I remember when they were handing out ingredients including cooking oil as compensation for dead russian fodder. I feel morbid wondering how many dead soldiers would it take to fill a diesel tank

I have a ’94 Peugeot XUD engine with a Bosch pump so it can run on straight veg oil. If it had a Lucas pump it would fail. Anything vaguely new (early 2000s onwards) will shat itself on straight veg.

    6. I had no idea that you could run a diesel engine on cooking oil. Fascinating.

Makes sense. Soon there will be no food. So, they are no longer going to need cooking oil for cooking food.

    8. So, Gas Oil, Kerosene and Cooking Oil are all fair game now, cue masses of Diesel cars and trucks breaking down.

One of the z-bloggers was explaining the other day how they’ll eat steamed, fried and baked potatoes. They can exclude fried now.

So next up is a crisis shortage in chicken nuggets and fries?

(please advise of regional deep fried dish that would make this a better joke)

Hmm. Technically it is possible to run a diesel on cooking (vegetable) oil but also not really.

Older diesels can, with the right modifications *can* run but modern diesels can’t. The oil is too thick and consequently clogs filters, cannot aerosolize properly through the injectors, and heavy carbon build up.

This dude is looking to brick his vehicle. Oh well.

    12. I used to run my Hilux Surf on vegetable oil, usually with a small amount of diesel to thin it out. Used to get some funny looks buying a shopping trolleys worth at the supermarket then filling up in the car park.

It worked just the same, although it did smell like a chip shop when you stopped at the lights. The Surf had a decent fuel pump so it could run 100% if needed.

Then my country put up the price of cooking oils to essentially make it no cheaper than paying at the pump.

    13. If that’s a modern diesel there going to be fucked if there running on straight vegetable oil.

You can get away with a mix for a short period but unless you process it to biodiesel or have a dual fuel setup so the heat from regular diesel preheats the veg oil the viscosity will gum things up in short order.

Which means less russian cars so good thing really

Sunflower oil. Seed grown on stolen Unkraine farms? Or seed outright stolen after grown by Ukranians? Both highly likely.

PS My last two bottles of sunflower oil here in the US? From Ukraine. I look for it only.
