      Our installer said he has 3-4 times the amount of calls since Trump went into Iran. Remarkable what a strong supporter of renewables Cheeto Benito became in the end XD.

      We had it before it was cool (and cheap) in 2022. Now after 2 extensions, the system is a monstrous 12 kWp😅

      That’s really interesting to see that the almost equivalent of Moneypoint has been installed on the roofs of homes and businesses under the micro scheme.

      In 2025 alone China installed an additional 315 GW, 100 times our total capacity. I wonder if we were using the resources for the yankee lng connector on this instead how much more we could have done.

      Does this mean we can pay some shyster for it?

      Ireland has to do better than the Brits who were supposed to be getting free electricity when Windscale opened.

      Maybe we can be charged for going out in the sunshine and absorbing all that energy that would be available if we only put solar panels where the ground we walked on was?

      The Ireland I grew up in, in the 1970s had summer for 20 minutes on a Tuesday in August. Of course, there was no guarantee of that. I don’t know where this sunny solar panel windfall is coming from 😂

      In 2022, the then government dropped all planning requirements for domestic solar which likely played a significant role in this increase.

      Holy frikkin household generation Batman. I knew there was a nice chunk coming from households and the like but I never though it would be 50% of the grid scale generation. Thats nuts and we’re only starting out

      Two faced news article. On one hand we’re generating more renewable energy which is a positive, on the other that very same renewable energy is being poured into data centres across the country which is taking up 21% of our nations electrical consumption. For comparison all suburban homes in Ireland combined equal to 20% of the nations electrical consumption. Data centres currently take up 21%.

      Remember when you used to hear nonsense online discourse about the viability of renewables and whether you’d ever get your money back.

      Now there’s no question about it serving an important part of our energy future and modt early adopters have already got there money back and then some.

      We got ours a year ago as part of a retrofit. Haven’t paid more than €100 since for all heating and constant hot water.

      On our road its like another house has panels every week. I’d say within a few years every house on the road will have them.
