    1. This should bring back to life those school kids whose murders he authorized, right?

    2. **“But the resolution is largely symbolic because, even after passing both chambers of Congress, it will not be sent to Trump for his consideration and does not carry the force of the law.“**

You can thank SCOTUS for that by the by.

„So, I have Iran on the ‚ropes,‘ ready to go down for the fall… and the U.S. Senate decides to have a poorly timed and meaningless War Powers Act Vote,“ Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Iran has been „ready to go down“ for a while now.

Get to the Midterms already. We want impeachment from both House and Senate.

    5. Cancelling it now would make things even worse.. who has filled the west’s politics with all these idiots?!

I know that the tories pulled BBC funding so they have to source it elsewhere, but these pop up ads brick its utility as a news source.

    7. There’s also no way any treaty gets ratified either. For example, the JCPOA was an executive agreement, and that got quickly dropped with an administration change.

It’s got no teeth to it. He still commands their complete obedience.

    9. It’s just a performance for YOU, the voter. To make you think they have a spine. Don’t fall for it. Congress has capitulated.

Basically just voicing displeasure with the war, mostly in their own self interest as the war is wildly unpopular.

Being on record is good for re-election.

Not saying that there are not those that voted out of actual conscience and disapproval.

    11. This brings up an interesting question.

What would happen if Congress just did their job and forced the end of this war?
If they just forced the troops back home with no resolution, no agreement with Iran, just pulled the troops out.

Would Iran continue to hold the straight?

      What would Iran’s reaction be?

They know midterms are coming and it would be wise to vote with the majority rather than vote for Trump like they have been for two years

    13. So … they waited till the fighting stopped and both sides are at the negotiating table. Brave move!! They must all be patting each other one the back.

      See voters. We did something.

    14. > The Republican-controlled US Senate has approved a measure demanding that President Donald Trump halt the war in Iran **or seek congressional approval before continuing military action**.

It’s worth pointing out given some of the dimmer comments, even in the best case this doesn’t stop the US military from acting against Iran’s actions, it stops it from acting *without congressional approval*. The Executive has been consciously acting illegally, using powers reserved to congress by the US constitution with the express goal of establishment of the [Unitary Executive ‚theory‘](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitary_executive_theory) – aka the President as King theory. The vast majority of Republicans remain fine with this.

    15. It’s alll just acting to pretend partial resistance. They are all paid for by the same crowd as the prez

    16. I wish Americans were acting more like the Albanians are. 4 straight weeks of protesting without any sign of slowing down. If people want pressure applied for change, look to them as an example for the steps that need to be taken to get the ball rolling. Think Civil Rights movement energy and less about impeachment proceedings.

Well, well, well. Look who found they have a spine just in time for midterm campaigns.
