Even before any policy issues, he has a deeply unlikeable personality and face. Even if he’s speaking honestly about issues that people care about, his whole tone and manner of speaking is slimy/off-putting.

I don’t know a lot about the guy, but nothing I’ve heard suggests he ever had any principles to throw away. Those guys all seem to have about the same Nietzschian „beyond good and evil“ kind of attitude. Not that they read stuff like that, they just don’t give a shit about morality if it gets in the way of power.
Trump isn’t getting any healthier. I fully expect we’ll have president Vance for a short time before January of 2029. But yeah he’s a terrible person who lacks the charisma to rile up the MAGA base like their daddy can. He was the “sane moderate” that was added to the ticket to get swing voters and non-MAGA republicans back on board. He turned out to be less than adequate on all axes and that’s not great for his prospects of being elected.
