Anstatt meine Fragen zu beantworten, schickten sie mir eine Unterlassungserklärung, in der sie behaupteten, dass das von mir erworbene Filmmaterial urheberrechtlich geschützt sei, und drohten mir mit einem gesetzlichen Schadensersatz von bis zu 150.000 US-Dollar. Sie haben mir auf Anfrage keine Urheberrechts-Registrierungsnummer mitgeteilt, die für die Geltendmachung solcher Schäden erforderlich ist. Sie bekamen die Gelegenheit, sich zu erklären, und versuchten stattdessen, mich einzuschüchtern, damit ich die Aufnahmen ihres Künstlergesprächs dauerhaft lösche "über Pädophilie."

SS: I reached out to The Box nightclub for comment on [my story about their deep ties to Jeffrey Epstein.](https://jamiefcrawford.substack.com/p/the-big-club-jeffrey-epsteins-connections) I also asked them about the troubling footage I acquired of one of their main performers talking about the fact that he was allowed to put on shows „about pedophilia.“
Instead of answering any of my questions, they sent me a cease-and-desist claiming that the footage I acquired was copyrighted and they threatened me with up to $150,000 in statutory damages. They didn’t provide me with a copyright registration number upon request, which is needed to collect such damages. They were given an opportunity to explain themselves and instead tried to intimidate me into permanently deleting the footage of their performer talking „about pedophilia.“

This is BS…. we use to go to The Box all the time. Its a NYC club thats cool and has burlesque style performances……. This is exaggerated.
OP, just an FYI that you DO have images etc on your site that you do not have permission to use.
It’s totally possible for your site to be shut down, if you fail to comply with taking any copywritten material down.
If you didn’t take the photos, you don’t have the legal recourse to demand a „copyright number“ before removing them from the site. Unless they’re creative commons photos, you have no protections.
Taking the photos down and simply linking to the evidence is a better option, to avoid any future legal ramifications.
