A great example of the harms caused by a soft-on-crime justice system.
This guy violently attacked Prime Minister Trudeau, and didn’t have to spend a single day in jail. Of course he got the message that you can commit political violence in this country and not face consequences.
This guy should have been locked up and made to feel the pain of a jail cell.

“A man convicted of throwing stones at Canada’s former prime minister three years ago has now been charged with threatening the current prime minister – this time online.
Shane Marshall, 29, of St. Thomas, appeared in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas charged with uttering threats to cause death by making social media posts directed at Prime Minister Mark Carney.”

That man needs to have access to a councillor. If the best idea someone can come up with to make their case is violence, then it’s not a good case.

At this point there is such a sizeable portion of our population that have been so indoctrinated with lies and misinformation, from social media and other media outlets, that we should implement some sort of nationalized deprogramming therapy.
I see so many deranged misinformed comments daily in this and other Canadian forums. It’s frightening to see so many Canadians that have succomed to all the rage baiting misinformation spread online. It’s overwhelming a problem on the right of the political spectrum but more and more I am seeing this on the left as well. People’s world views are being manipulated for someone else’s profit and they have no clue It’s happening to them.

>Marshall, a former People’s Party of Canada riding association president in Elgin-Middlesex-London, was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest and a year of probation in May 2023 for throwing gravel at then-prime minister Justin Trudeau during a federal election stop at a London craft brewery on Sept. 6, 2021.
Completely unsurprising but still very disappointing.
>Details of the allegations are protected by a court-imposed publication ban. Elgin County Crown attorney David Rows said the Crown agreed to Marshall’s release on $5,000 no-deposit bail, with no sureties. Justice of the peace Frank Leddy imposed several conditions. Marshall is prohibited from contacting or associating directly with Carney or any member of the federal or provincial legislatures. He also cannot be within 50 metres of Carney or members of the parliaments. He is also prohibited from being in Ottawa and from possessing weapons. Marshall is further barred from posting on any social media platform, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, TikTok and YouTube.
Courts have been and continue to be way too soft on this guy. We tolerate way too much violence against our politicians, the punishments should be harsher.
