      De eerste die deze winter zit te janken voor zon en de zomer krijgt van mij een bus brandende propaan op zen gezicht.

      I live in the middle of a densely populated part of a big city with little to no greenery. Haven’t been able to get my bedroom temp below 28 degrees; it was 32 last night (before you ask: no money for A/C). Going to get interesting towards the end of the week.

      Slecht. Ik slaap maximum 2 uur, kan niet eten of drinken.

      Ik zweet niet en kan niet afkoelen.

      En onze baas wilt niets doen voor verkoeling of extra rust.

      I have always hated the weather in Belgium because I can’t stand cold. even 20c is slightly on the cold side to me. 25c is ideal. up to 35c I feel fine. So for once I am not the one complaining about the weather lol

      I just came back from Paris, where it was 40+ in some streets, so Belgium feels fresh and fruity.

      I live in a badly isolated apartment so it quickly becomes 30 degrees indoors here as well, so… bad. Doing bad.

      Everything feels humid and sticky, and I’m taking cold showers multiple times a day

      So, is this like a new thing? The heat waves I mean? I haven’t lived in Europe in 40 years but I can’t remember it ever being unbearably hot. It was mostly just grey and raining. And cold depending on the season. Granted I lived in England, The Netherlands and Belgium… but still…

      Is this some global warming type thing? Is Holland going under?

      Few summers ago, only 26 years late in my life, i realized buying a fan and having it blow very mildly on you during sleep on the lowest setting can make a WHOLE lot of difference. Just having a bit of wind to grace your face and one leg out the sheets. You can buy a silent one cheap, i wouldn’t even hear that it’s on. Wish i knew sooner, i live in a rooftop appartment.

      Kijk uit naar het einde van de week, ik denk niet dat ik in mijn 35 jaar al zo’n hittegolf heb meegemaakt, of ik moet het verdrukt hebben.

      Let’s just say that my husband is congratulating me every day on fighting with him five years ago to pay for ac to be installed in our home.

      Im probably not the person you wanna hear from but I have ac at home so its nice and comfortable here.

      But I returned from travels yesterday and the house was entirely heatsoaked.
      Thermostat reported 32C in the living area and 34C upstairs. Washroom (with servers and old oil burner) doesnt have a temp sensor but im pretty sure it exceeded 40C in there. Took over 12 hours of the ac going full blast all across the house to get it down to 24.

      I heard ceiling fans are amazing. I am considering a few now for the apartment.

      I wanted to spend some time outside, enjoying the sun and the midsummer vibes last weekend. Instead, I had to stay inside to avoid burning and/or overheating. Sleep is fragmented, and despite the fact that I drink enough water, my skin has turned sorta grey and the bags under my eyes aren’t cute.

      Climate measures when?! 😭🫠

      I purchased a mobile AC at Hubo Saturday, out of desperation.

      It’s completely incapable of lowering the temperature. But, it’s still much more bearable.

      Probably has to do with the fact the thing just extracts 1 full bucket of water every 4 hours.

      I also purchased three cheap thermometers, so I could experiment what would happen if I closed the windows. I recorded up to 45°C in my bedroom.

      The thermometer on my balcony exploded at some point, probably from being in contact with the concrete façade. I mean, it’s simply scalding to touch, I’m not surprised it’s more than 55°C.

      The third one is with me and is the one establishing the AC can’t cool the room down.

      In een veld zonder schaduw aan het werken. Vakbond vind niet dat werken moeten stilgelegd worden omdat het “eventjes warm is”. Ben aan het wachten tot de eerste collega omvalt

      This picture describes my feeling accurately.

      I was going to leave on a cycling holiday towards Limburg and Germany tomorrow, but scrapped all the plans and booked a camping next to the Ourthe instead. I will shelter in shade and water and read books. Heading out with my bicycle everyday, all day, just doesn’t seem the best decision to make for myself.

      Must be better than being stuck in a heat island such as Antwerpen.

      2 jaar geleden niet op verlof gegaan, maar centjes gebruikt om airco te laten installeren. Dat was een fantastische investering die nu zijn geld dubbel en dik waard is
