390k a year in salary and they’re still gaming the system to buy a ridiculous amount of clothing. 130k over five years.
The average Canadians life would be changed if they had another 26k a year.
What a tremendous waste of our tax dollars.

Honestly, who cares. She represents our country as a head of state, and her budget represents a tiny fraction of one percent of the federal budget (.0001% i think if my math is right). We have real issues to deal with and this is just a distraction from those issues.

We Canadians really need to abolish the monarchy. Waste of money and doesn’t represent us.

They are the direct representatives of the monarch in government. They are a proxy for royalty, they are supposed to spend taxpayer money on dumb shit, it’s their job.

Reminds me of instances back in the day when six figure executives would bitch when the office wouldn’t reimburse a 6$ coffee they bought on their tax payer funded business trip.

I think the money should continue to be given but we just make the requirements strict (if they aren’t already I’m not sure) like only purchasing Canadian designers.
„Some of the outfits were worn at specific events, such as Simon’s $997 raven silk capelet made by a Haida designer. The capelet was donned at a ceremony to mark the one-year anniversary of finding potential unmarked graves at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School and later to welcome the Pope to Canada.“
This is an appropriate use of money and not expensive for a designer silk scarf. That’s giving money to an indigenous artist in Canada and small business.
People look at it in a way that it is wasteful but if they’re buying suits from small Canadian designers it’s going directly back into the Canadian economy and funding the arts.
It’s disappointing to me that it’s changing and we’re losing putting that money back into the economy.
