Then you check their profiles and they comment almost exclusively in Korea related articles 🙄
You will virtually never see Japanese media run a headline like Amazing Korea! 100% it turns into a goofy analytical filter. Right? Kind of cold, objective, and completely stripped of emotional cheerleading.
How about the football fans in Shibuya? I wish the city would organize around people getting hyped. Police everywhere with bullhorns, and whistles.The ultimate irony is that the Japanese national team has never been better or more exciting on the world stage, but the local environment for fans has never been more sterile.
A lot of people not Japanese are rooting for them in the football world. I think your seeing an example of this leaking out. The team has a underdog story around them.
I am so proud of them. So rare to have an Asian team performing so well.
As much as I hope Japan will go far in this world cup, lets temper expectations a bit. A big reason Japan got the 2-2 against the Netherlands is because the Dutch trainer royally fucked up to the point he even appologised on television. And Tunisia isn’t a major football nation.
I hope Japan is able to crush major football nations like Germany or France, it be awaome. But for now I think we shouldn’t getting things go to our head.
