A UCF-led research team has made a groundbreaking discovery by identifying carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) ices on trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) using the James Webb Space Telescope. This study reveals that CO2 was likely present in the early protoplanetary disk, offering new insights into the formation and evolution of our solar system.
