A US intelligence report warns Iran can now shut the Strait of Hormuz ‚at will.‘ This vital waterway handles nearly a fifth of global oil shipments, giving Tehran unprecedented power to disrupt energy supplies and trade. Analysts say this leverage rivals the impact of nuclear weapons in reshaping regional dynamics.

    2. Is this some weird time travelling drama.

We have known this for months now. US is paying a ransom of $ 300 bn for this.

Or did the Intel dept finally get the memo. What a freak show.

I think the report has always been on the Commander in Chief’s desk (or the pile of critital documents in the bin), but it is difficult to force people to read things and understand what the thing means.

    4. They can shut it at will, but it appears that oil prices can be suppressed for months with the Strait shut. I wonder how that plays into future strategy.

I have to check it wasnt the Onion, Indian media is not usually known for their dead pan humour.

    6. After the last few months I could have made this high level intelligence briefing lol

Honestly, this just shows the shift away from US dominance. Iran flexing like this isn’t about them alone; it’s the Global South stepping up, reshaping power dynamics, and calling out old systems. Multipolar world isn’t some future dream—it’s happening now.

Is this really something new? They don’t have any new capability they didn’t have before, they’ve just never tried it before

Honestly, the real move here is figuring out how to cool this all down. What’s the point of endless power plays? Start actually talking, cut the posturing, and work out a deal both sides can live with before this spirals.

Sanctions always backfire. You isolate a country for decades and then act surprised when they double down on controlling one of the most critical chokepoints in the world. Look at North Korea or Cuba, same playbook, same results.

    11. Well the USA can strike Iran at will.
Iran can close the strait at will.
      Will it.
