    1. She should have shut up about dating a MAGA cop.. her whole audience turned on her

I’m not seeing the connection between Trump’s DEI rollbacks and an actress losing 90% of her income.

I don’t understand the comments lol. Cox dating a Republican previously is not equivalent to endorsing his political beliefs, nor does it make any of her valid complaints about the current administration irrelevant. As a black, trans woman, she has every right to defend a community she is apart of, and speak to the many ways the current admin’s policies have been harmful. She’s always been a fierce advocate for trans rights. Always been outspoken against Trump and his administration.

And if you read the article, she ties back her personal losses to a more macro view of the impact of Trump’s laws on the trans community overall. Really, she’s speaking to loss of job prospects. For example, no longer being hired to speak at colleges and universities because it could be seen as “DEI” or an endorsement of “gender ideology”. Not being able to teach acting classes at graduate school for the same reason. The trickle down effect of the policies that have been implemented and the negative consequences on the trans community as a whole.

To put it another way, think of the trickle down effect of the dismantling of Affirmative Action, a few years later. It was marketed as a promotion of a “merit based system” to foster in racially biased policies, and acted as a gateway to legally challenge any institution or program designed to help black people circumvent systemic prejudices. For example, scholarship programs designed for poor black students were cancelled nation wide – across colleges – after conservative orgs. sent threatening letters that framed them as racially discriminatory. Venture capitalist firm investing in businesses of black, female entrepreneurs was sued for racial discrimination; as was a STEM program in New York that offered free entry to black and brown youth from low income families. A website designed to help black people identify black medical professionals in their areas was recently sued for racial discrimination; as was a program designed to aid black mothers…

In essence, same laws created to fight against racial prejudices are now being used in reverse to target programs originally designed to counteract the effects of systemic racism. Think of the impact on black and brown families, kids, etc. So I def. understand her viewpoint on this in reading the article…and also in doing my research on how she described and spoke on the relationship previously.

    4. Almost 300,000 federal employees lost 100% of their income when they were unceremoniously fired during the DOGE cuts. Many if not most were illegally fired and had their union rights stripped away.

Also fun fact, they are quietly trying to hire many of the people back and having a tough time doing so because of the climate and stress they created.

Being trans is simply a small part of teaching about trans issues at a college. She would need significant credentials, the ability to research and connect to present day issues, the ability to plan a syllabus, write exams, manipulate the technology necessary, etc. I’d be impressed if she were an adjunct professor.

    6. So she’s coming out and admitting that she wasn’t earning her roles and was just being handed them because she checked off the right DEI boxes? Points for brutal self-honesty, I guess.

How are these comments so knowledgeable about her relationships? She’s not even that famous. Reddit doesn’t make sense anymore

Surely that’s to bad, but I have to question your acting ability or your skill if DEI was the only reason you were getting jobs.

Boo hoo? So many people lost so much more. I doubt it had anything to do with that orange peel. It probably also has to do with those 15 minutes being almost up.

I don’t have much sympathy for celebrities when it comes to jobs and money. You should’ve saved some more and had contingencies. Not very many have real longevity in Hollywood. Find your niche or scrimp and save. It’s happened to better actors, singers, entertainers, etc.

Good 👍 nothing should ever be race based. Solely based on merit alone.

She should ask her MAGA boyfriend for help, surely his network would support her efforts. Girl, bye.

    12. Is there a reason why everything posted in r/entertainment is about Donald Trump?

This talentless person who succeeded during a particular era has the nerve to complain. Lord have mercy.

I do feel Trumps involved with her not being able to find work but not in the way she’s describing it.

People in entertainment make 100% too much anyway. From the ground all the way to the top. It’s gross

Shouldn’t matter to her when she’s dates people in the MAGA movement. 🤷‍♀️
