Well I’m certainly happy that they feel that way about Deadline

tbh neither of these projects are close to being the best kpop albums of the year but deadline is especially egregious

See I’m a fan of blackpink’s older stuff so I don’t consider myself a fan anymore but… deadline was just bad imo
And I’m obviously biased and the reception for the bts album was split but I think the album is fantastic so I’m glad it’s being recognized here. Literally their songs are on repeat for me

One of those does not belong in the picture lmaoo

BTS i can understand, but deadline? wasn’t that one like 3 new songs plus a prior title or something along those lines, and not very well received among blinks?

That tells me enough about where Rolling Stone has fallen from their former prestige.

I hate when western publications exclusively choose BTS and Blackpink for these lists. It gives lazy. Like there are so many other kpop artists/groups making better music. Actually do your research before making these (silly) rankings.

I love Deadline, Go, Jump, Champion are Bangers.

Happy to see Arirang on the list. This album has been on repeat for me.

Important to admit obvious biases: BTS is my favorite group and while I’ve followed BP in the past and even owned their albums, I’ve very much fallen off in recent years.
Arirang being here makes a lot of sense to me. While it doesn’t feel as “kpop” as prior albums, it’s sonically probably their most mature. While there were initial mixed feelings over the choice of title track, the album is overall well received among both fans and critics, and its chart longevity for a kpop album has been really strong.
Conversely it feels weird that Deadline is on here. To me it felt very much like a “here, damn” sort of album. I felt much more passion went into the individual solo albums than what went into this long-awaited group return. It feels like YG is more interested in cashing in on the group at this point than actually working to evolve the group’s artistry.

these publications always choose an obligatory kpop album for these lists and they’re rarely „the best.“ usually just the most popular

Anybody take these lists seriously? lol

okay. i’ve been a blink for years, so I say this from a place of love. deadline was beyond lame. i love go and jump, but the other three songs were poorly written and low effort. they sounded like an ai recreation of what a blackpink song would be, based on their previous discography. after such a long wait, for such a short album with so little effort put into building hype around it, people legitimately forgot about it after three days. deadline does not belong on ANY best album list, and I sincerely hope the girls and their team hold off on another album h til they can put serious work and care into making something worthwhile.

It’s giving Taylor Swift lol. Publications are afraid of giving albums of big artists any ratings lower than it actually deserves out of fear of pissing off the fandom. What a ridiculous echo chamber that leads to inflated egos.

Deadline being here pissing everybody off is so funny
And anyways good for both them, though I would’ve liked an actual full album from Blackpink

I can’t make an opinion about arirang because I didn’t listen to it but I listened to deadline and it is a mid album AT BEST, it’s obvious that inclusion is just to farm engagement because BP has a lot of fans and in before I have nothing against BP but you’ll have to be lying to say it was anything but a mediocre album and a quick cash grab, not even BP members themselves cared, their soul is in their solo careers and that’s ok

I don’t think even Blackpink believes this

people getting so worked up in these comments is hilarious. i know it’s hard to believe, but y’all are not gonna die because of who was or wasn’t included in a throwaway rolling stone list 💀

I’m seeing a lot of not the best “Kpop Album”…Rolling Stone did not make that distinction…they said one of the best albums of 2026 thus far…it crazy so many Kpoppies get so offended when BTS or even color color get mention…hate it or love it BTS and BP fans push their music…Arirang is definitely one of my top faves this year, can’t speak for Deadline…never heard it. Maybe yall should spend less time hating outside the club and push your artist so they can get an honorable mention too.

Not that I put a lot of stock in these kinds of lists but Arirang is right up there with the best in any genre for me so I’m happy to see it here. And it’s not the only list it’s on either including some from media outlets that aren’t very mainstream.
I do have to laugh that every time a group that someone doesn’t like receives accolades it’s because of “payola” and not because other people actually like it. It’s the kpop version of how every time a MAGA candidate loses an election it’s because it was rigged.

Another one for ARIRANG!!! And kind of funny how some of yall are trying to convince us that ARIRANG is bad because that is utter bs. That album is great, its production is immaculate, it explores themes of identity, music, stardom, love….in an incredible but simultaneously cheeky manner, its manages to be cohesive while dabbling in multiple genres, it is done well and its reception by fans, non-fans and critics says it’s all. It has one of the highest critic scores for an album this year, already is making multiple Best of lists from big publications to indie ones, is breaking records accross the board (all better metrics than yall’s subjective opinion)
