I guess that you got a bit mixed up – eggs are color-dyed for Easter, not Midsummer (Jāņi). 🙂 But thumbs up for dedication.
Make your own Jāņu siers, it’s actually pretty straightforward though takes a bit of time. You can find the recipe online. You need caraway seeds though, and milk.
But trust me, it will be much better than anything you can buy.

HAHA
Well, a good Jāņi has some good barbecue / šašliks – find a recipe that plays the strings of your soul and run with it. But also some of the common traditions is finding „jāņuzāles“ aka different wild plants and flowers for decoration and wreath weaving, as well as finding young birch trees to put around the house and by the side of your households doors. I usually go with my brother for an hour or so to get them, my sisters and mom go to find the material for wreath weaving. Oak tree branches/leaves are used for decorating as well – we put a small oak branch in every door handle, on cars, wherever else you feel like.
The celebration itself then is more about having a good time, singing songs, maybe visiting neighbors (with songs, of course, but doesn’t hurt to bring some of the provisions as well). If there’s a suitable lake/river/pond nearby, swimming in it in the morning is a traditional activity.
