I’m surprised it’s not higher, given it objectively is. Look at what’s happening with the independent candidates. Do 5/6 people seriously think if the country becomes majority Muslim laws won’t change etc?

so 16%. one in six makes it sound like more than it is. they mean 16%.

by the way, support for trans self ID is 28%. and that’s supposedly such an insane fringe issue that it’s off the table.

Blasphemy laws, against women’s and lgbt+ rights, corporal punishment, approval of slavery, polygyny etc

      How is it not?

I think whatever your views are on immigration or Islam it’s pretty obvious that a high Muslim population will change the culture of an area. There are areas of the UK with a high Muslim population and they have different cultures compared to other areas and what those areas would have had historically.

I think the only way you can really disagree with that the culture will change is if you don’t think demographics influence culture – which they oblivious do in my opinion

There was the same fear of Jewish immigrants in the 1930s. And West Indian immigrants in the 1960s. Neither of those were a threat either

    6. There has never been a mass movement of people anywhere on earth at any point in history that did not materially change the culture of the place they ended up. This has happened several times in our own history and still profoundly affects our culture today – It’s the reason English and Welsh are seperate identities. You can argue whether it’s for better or worse but history is literally shaped by the changes that migrations have brought.

      I mean yeah?

Most people won’t say it because to many it just seems ‚racist‘ because most people have been brought up to respect other religions, because somehow an ideology being a religion makes it super sacred and you need to respect it because idk , people deeply believe in it?

I don’t think it’s difficult to look at religion and especially Islam and see how deeply bigoted it is, the two main sects are not exactly even remotely progressive, and sure that doesn’t mean individuals are not, but if you make it such an important part of your life, say you believe in it to such a degree then it helps to uphold all that nastiness.

It’s not hard to see that in some places a clear parallel society is being made, there are areas where kids are indoctrinated from birth and have an entire social circle of people just like them who can police and form strong religious communities around them, hell there are even religious schools (something I think shouldn’t exist at all) it makes it harder and harder to experience freedom from religion, something I think everyone, especially children should be entitled to, obviously you have Islamic courts, and sure, they aren’t actually courts, but belief is a powerful thing and it’s clear that many people regardless of faith are absolutely willing to put another ideology over the freedom and democracy we have fought so hard for and that is deeply concerning.

Just think, if any religious book was new and released today it would just be a wild, bigoted and frankly bonkers manifesto, it contains the kind of stuff that would be classified as hate speech and I really can’t see why as a society we just allow it and don’t really care unless it shows up in the most extreme forms when there are problems all the way down.

a lot of this stuff can be echoed for the far right too, but few people not on the far right are trying to protect the far right from critique.

    8. The increase in any non British population in Britain will have this effect on uk culture.

It might be, but I think the party currently leading in the polls who want to emulate the unhinged death cult currently dismantling the USA are a bigger threat to UK culture.

    10. I’m worried about the rise of all religion – especially the fake shite that reform and other right wing parties push – purely performative.

    11. * **2001 Census**: The first time religion was included in the UK census. Muslims accounted for 1.5 million people, or **3.0%** of the population.
      * **2011 Census**: The Muslim population increased to 2.7 million, representing **4.8%** of the UK.
      * **2021 Census / 2022 Data**: In the most recent official census cycles, the Muslim population reached nearly 3.9 million people in England and Wales alone, putting the nationwide percentage at roughly **6%**.
      * **2025 Estimate**: According to the [Muslim Council of Britain (MCB)](https://mcb.org.uk/censusreport/), the UK Muslim population reached approximately 4 million, stabilizing at **6%** of the total UK populace.

Sectarian fundamentalism genuinely is a threat though? It genuinely just doesn’t work with secularism!

This would be much simpler if moderate Islamic communities who don’t isolate and form isolated communities helped condemn. It would also promote a harmonious and beneficial society full of cohesion!
