Important read to have insight into the reality of what the Armenian prisoners in Baku have faced (and continue to face today). Vicken did not even serve, he was a civilian. I can only imagine that which the POW’s and the former political leadership of Artsakh undergo in prison is worse.
To summarize, he spent the last 4 years of his captivity in solitary confinement, inside a cell he was not allowed to leave from a single time. He says the food he was served was borderline inedible, and the water was green.
On a side note, a point I know will be controversial here is that he requires medical treatment/support and this is being provided mainly by the friends/donations and the ARF party. I have no love for what the ARF & the other pro-Russian parties do in Armenia today but I can’t help but see a recurring theme of Artsakh refugees & war veterans falling through the gaps and not receiving the government support they should.

I doubt it, but I hope he one day finds peace.
Work towards peace, but arm ourselves to our teeth because we know what animals we’re surrounded by.

What can you say? What can you call him?
I would call him Khonarh hero’s , humble hero.
We, Armenians lost thousands of young heros in this war, thousands wounded and maimed. We lost our land.
At least this humble hero is alive and free.

Remember, the arf who advertises itself the protector and representative of Armenians did shit to secure his freedom, particularly in a country like Lebanon where they have a strong base in, as well as a seat in the parliament, with Vicken being a citizen of Lebanon.
It was Armenia who secured his freedom. Useless arf, despicable Lebanese government. If it were me in his place, i’d have renounced my citizenship.
Edit: It’s interesting that they presented Maral as „a friend“ when during the time of his capture they said she’s his fiancee or something like that? I also recall mentions of him abandoning his family for Maral, although I can’t verify any of this, just what was claimed.
Edit: The guy has been through hell and back, in his 5 years being held hostage, beat, placed in a small cell without allowance to go out, malnutritioned, during this time, his mother died, his father died, his brother died, his wife was struggling to keep their 16 year old (at the time) daughter fed and both she and the daughter had to abandon studying and find work. On top, the children of Vicken’s brother had to move in with them, because of his unfortunate death and Vicken’s wife had to care for them too.

To be fair I’m playing devils advocate why was a Lebanese Armenian even allowed or advised to be living in Artsakh. One it was unstable and two it presents the idea we were settling Armenians that were non native there
