They always come up with these miniscule values. Yeah, maybe some people have problems getting 2600 yen ready. Maybe some people will feel some relieve from it. But I don’t think that this will be the majority. Most people’s household incomes are battered by continually rising prices for everything you can possible think off. Groceries, train fares, utilities, whatever other hygiene products or whatever you need, everything. And not just one price increase, dozens, again and again and again. Water going up double digit percent, electricity going up 30 percent, gas 25 percent. Fuel is a luxury all of a sudden.

It’s horrible. I have lived here for 14 years. Many people have lived here longer, but even in those 14 years, I have consistently felt everyday life here getting worse because things always just get more expensive. Salaries though? I’m glad I’m getting a bigger bonus now because my base salary has not changed for 12 years.

You keep seeing misleading articles about REAL WAGES INCREASING but the problem is, some new recruits see a wage increase, while other people are working the same for less. And even so, the wage increase people might be getting is not enough to battle the constant onslaught of price raises every month.

Some people are living comfortably because they have a great income, so these increases may not be as significant to them, but the statistics show that most Japanese households are NOT in that category. How do you think people should be spending money on the economy when they have to worry about just retaining the bare minimum of their living standards? People are getting squeezed for every single yen they have with fees and whatnot, meanwhile the government promises to reduce costs by 2600 yen. What? That covers almost nothing! Then, they give out cash. A whole 5000 yen per person! WOW! That doesn’t solve anything and is a huge waste of taxes.

They have absolutely no plan. They are looking at this economy and society circling the friggin drain, unable to stop it, and throw life preservers in the water that are not gonna stop anyone from going into the drain. GOOD JOB!

I don’t have any answers. Sorry. But I know that whatever they are doing, is not it. And the more they talk about doing something, the more I wanna shout it from the rooftops, that they are just appearing to be doing something while really achieving absolutely NOTHING.

    2. I notice this a lot at the malls and shopping centers. They’re full of people still but most people either have nothing or like one bag from the cheaper 300 yen shops.
