    1. I know it’s been happening since the war started, but…

As someone who grew up during the Cold War… I *cannot believe* how badly Russia is completely *showing its ass*.

Is soft power even soft power without any hard power to back it up?

    2. Incredibly embarrassing for Russia to have to do this.

Whole lot of work to put a few obsolete vehicles back into play. They probably will only be able to repair a fraction of that number, too.

Putin easily could swallow its own pride and finish this stupid war, but he prefers to double down for nothing, he is just delaying the inevitable

I do not think this is true. They have used most of their cold war tanks. The ones that are now getting destroyed are far behind the frontline.

Guess they had to restrict fuel sales for these bc they get terrible mileage

    6. Tanks burn a lot of fuel, which is something of an issue for Russian right now

More drone fodder. It’s like they *want* to get rid of the big metal boxes.

    8. Engines are back for a good time not a long time.

      ^It ^will ^be ^a ^good ^time ^comrade, ^honest.

Ukraine announces it is fielding state of the art robotic soldiers whilst Russia is digging through the trash for cold war wrecks?.

By the end of this war it’s going to look like a game of Civilisation.

When the first tank is knocked out, the second tank picks up its engine and continues driving.

Russia has gone past scraping the bottom of barrel to digging the earth underdeath the barrel.

      A new record in desperation.

    12. I think it was Tzun Tzu that said, „when doing so well in war efforts, one should allocate resources to the saving of massively dated equipment for the inevitable victory parade on the horizon…“

I’m thinking that the failure rate for these refurbish jobs is going to be pretty high. Rolling down the road when suddenly your tank is a sitting duck as the engine is smoked.

Sure, I bet these “decades old” tanks will just drive and shoot perfectly fine because Russia is known for building tech that lasts forever…

    15. This whole article reeks of bullshit. So suddenly Russia “finds” the parts needed to put 5000 tanks back into service? And they were able to do this without any corruption…while being sanctioned…in the middle of a war?

    16. Old and outdated hulls, rebuilt engines. The turret of their best tanks have been popping off hulls like jack-in-the-boxes for 4 years and now there’s millions of drones waiting to hit anything within 10 miles of the front lines.

Climb aboard boys! It’ll work this time.
