    1. The racist cantons will vote for it. The popular vote will be the decider

They hate migrants because only them should have the right to invade urbans areas for their comfort.

I get it from an emotional perspective why you would want ot vote yes. But it doesn’t make much sense and has a lot more negatives. Most people are not smart enough to see the negatives.

I’m not the slightest surprised, it’s a primitive animal instinct that people just can’t seem to be able to shut off for their own good

    4. ZH will turn red as soon as they habe counted Winti and Züri. Eastern Switzerland being green is not a surprise tbh.

There are a number of issues that specifically affect young voters which we should address (housing , employment security, sustainability and traffic etc). This proposal however does nothing to address any of these issues…

The tiny mountain cantons voting like they personally have to absorb all of Zürich’s housing pressure is very Swiss.

I expected a close no, the predicted 45% is a bit lower than I thought. I’m not exactly happy, but definitely relieved at the outcome. On to whatever the next SVP thinly veiled attempt at isolating Switzerland is gonna be.

You’re seeing an artifact of the vote counting; the smaller, rural communities are reporting results first, and the larger cities last.

Among the cantons which are nearly done, you can see this effect in e.g. Zug. Smaller communities voted yes, the larger ones no.

I guarantee Zürich will flip to no.

I’ll refer to this tho whenever I read complaints here about the lack of jobs, rents and much much more 🙂

Looks like the romands save us again. Merci from across the röstigraben

    11. I would be so damn happy if every yes sayer would experience one week of services from only swiss people. No immigrants, no expats and no even naturalized swiss. Doctor I have a heart attack – yes sure an emergency, we can check in 3 months. My dishwasher needs to get repaired – sure we‘ll come over in 2 years. DHL Estimated delivery time of your package – 5 years.

There is no need for a second thread. Thanks for crapping up the sub.

    13. These are not the final results.

ZH, SO, SG, TI and AG could and likely will flip to a no majority.

The fact that ZG, LU and SH have already rejected it is a very strong indicator that the yes camp will ultimately lose both the popular vote and the majority of cantons.

I am absolutely anti migration and voted no.

The only reason this initiative got rejected is because its so simple dumb. No refugee cares about the initiative and just crosses the border.

Without working together with EU in trade and safety and canceling the bilateral contracts is just stone age mindset.

We would have more migrants we dont want, not the migrants we need, broken economy, less safety controls, just old people.

Canceling bilateral contracts with EU automatically without an alternative is EXTREME.

I dont get why SVP isnt able to do an initiative that could also be extreme but would have a real effect. For example:

Not accepting any Third State migrant anymore except US, Australia etc. So like Nachhaltigkeitsinitiative but for everyone outside Europe. (I guess this one would be accepted)

      Not accepting Refugees anymore

      No naturalization anymore

I know these are extreme but not more extreme than canceling every contract with the EU

    15. Not surprising for me. I’ve seen many votes like this already. „Should we ban human rights?“, 51% votes no, and we dodged another bullet.

    16. Away-Leg-998 on

Sad…I feared it will be a no, but was really hoping that at least it will be very close 🙁

    17. I am not surprised. I actually thought it would pass, though I am not in favor.

    18. Every three months another ballot where some people want to push Switzerland more into an isolationist stance…

    19. Nope, that’s pretty much what I expected.
The SVP is very good at bringing theur initiatives to a very close call

If you want 10 million peeps here, host them in the houses of those that voted no.

    21. always been the racists in the countryside and the normal people in the cities

    22. I was thinking of moving to Schwyz area, but on this map it looks like it’s the last place they want to see Ausländer

Would love to know your sentiments about the pros and cons of this vote and why you think the pros of your opinion outweigh the cons (hopefully we can make it a civilized discussion) (here comes the flood of neg points, much love to you guys as well!❤️)

It was predictable that the more „backwards“ eastern part would be in favor. But then again, I just checked the communal map on 20min and that paints a dire picture. It’s effectively the case that apparently more communes voted yes than no. And honestly, this baffles and concerns me to a great deal. Apparently the only thing that lead to this vote not getting a yes in popular votes is the city/country disparity in population.
I mean I get this is an evident fact, still I’m saddened that the voters of so many communes lacked the intelligence (sorry can’t find better words for it) to vote NO. Voting against this senseless and lunatic proposal was the only sane thing any person could do. It saddens me that so many fell for the populist bogus of the SVP. I mean if I look at Berne where I live, I’m met by a sea of blue with communes that voted a clear yes…the place where I live voted a staggering 61.4% yes (673 votes). I’m baffled, really. I always knew the big cities would make up for all the small communes voting yes and save Switzerland from this grave error, still I question the mindset and sanity of Swiss people in the countryside after seeing this…

Can’t believe that more than 40% of the population are so damn shortsighted. But there’s a reason we are among the most conformist countries on the planet, because we hate everything different which immigrants are.

I just wish people would broaden their horizons and leave their damn village for once.

Its more than i wished for, but, its a sign. I hope our middle and left will now start acting. Plus they have the „go“ to also act. Lets hope for the best.
