    1. And meta own both [WhatsApp](https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=WhatsApp+messenger+app&cId=de28af5c-2a22-4495-a233-1ccd004e7d86&iId=2af99543-924b-459f-b7d4-5cabd8b8a726) and [messenger](https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=Facebook+Messenger+app&cId=5646ba4f-d990-4a0c-b930-6e1e8bd79ee6&iId=f4de43be-b57b-42d7-aa2b-e37a0d71e5a4).

I (a Pole) use both even though I find WhatsApp superior but most people stick to messenger, I think it’s because it’s like having an online phonebook. You can find nearly everyone on Facebook and don’t need to ask for their number or worry if you lose it.

    2. For some reason in Ukraine Viber is associated with older people, working professions people and lower proficiency in using modern technology. Don’t know why but it just so historically happened

    3. I just want a messenger, doesn’t developed by crazy muricans, russians or Chinese…

    4. id say in greece at least its instagram, viber is used either more for business and by older people

last time i used viber more was when i was 11

Telegram was the most popular I guess in Russian. Now they are forced to use their national messenger though younger generation still use telegram

    6. Viber is more popular than Telegram in Belarus. Over 80% of mobile devices have viber installed. Plus pc version is very popular for work chats

    7. I got rid of Messenger when they started forcing reactivation of my Facebook account every time I opened the app. It’s a shame because I had 15+ years of conversations that I liked being able to look back at. I wish we could all agree to get rid of Meta entirely as they are developing a real monopoly of all our private conversations.

    8. Telegram is absolutely the best. We use it for basicly all. Messaging, file transfer, meetings, Including a bot that interacts with our website, we follow orders and update statusses through it on phone. I jjust expect EU to ban it at some point cause they cant read all our messages (but will hide it under children protection laws).

I think it varies in Northern Europe due to the amount of immigrants/refugees who keep their old phone numbers and messaging apps

    10. WhatsApp replace every chat and the sms in western Europe. I remember that the service was so good than when they asked for 1 euros at year not to flood me with ads I thought: of course, here. Then Facebook bought them and it was to late for Italy to change app.

I (Dutch) hate it when someone uses FB messenger to contact me, even though they have my phone number and could just use WhatsApp like the rest of the nation.

I only use Telegram to buy drugs.

    14. I always wonder why Facebook messenger would be popular in other Nordic countries? I’ve seen this same map for years now and I feel things have changed drastically at least here in the Nordics. Whatsapp still is obviously the most popular one in Finland.
