      By all accounts, they will eventually have a Starlink-like system. The only question is whether it will take months, a year, or even two. It will also cost them a great deal. But there is no need to underestimate Russia—they will adapt.

      16 satellites…wooo!!!! There are currently over 10,650 active Starlink satellites in low-Earth orbit out of more than 12,200 launched since 2019. Because SpaceX launches new batches of 20 to 60 satellites multiple times per month, this figure constantly changes.

      He is talking about “rassvet” system which is existing on the paper and they did indeed have the couple of satellites up. The question is if they are able to make it operational or it will remain on the paper as the Armata tank.

      Billions of rubles have surely been spent on the Russian version of Starlink. Unfortunately, however, most of that money has likely ended up in foreign bank accounts or been used to buy mansions in the south of France or Florida. Putin surely believes what he says, but unfortunately, it isn’t true. Instead, his subordinates simply told him that they had developed such a system and that it would just take a little more time before it was operational. And maybe they’ll also say that they need even more money for that.
