I can respect that honestly. Good for him.
Respect Jesse for his rationale for this. Given today’s environment I also 100% agree with him.
How interesting would it really be to play a narcissistic douche when whatever is put on screen would likely be a watered down version of Zuck IRL?
Look, after watching the Social Reckoning trailer I believe that Sorkin should write a movie that’s as out of his comfort zone as possible, like Sci-fi, fantasy, Superhero or a straightforward rom-com and let someone else direct it. He feels stagnant
Absolutely do not blame him.
Kendal is honestly a good choice for zuckernut
He took Zuckerberg to his natural conclusion when he played Lex Luthor.
Respect. Can’t blame the guy at all.
Eisenberg did such a good job in this role that I do conflate the two. If I were him, I’d pass on this too. Imagine being typecast as a douche.
Does he not like playing himself, playing Zuckerberg?
Seems like Jeremy Strong is actually trying to act like Mark.
I think they should drop the „The.“ Just „Social Reckoning.“ It’s cleaner.
I guess someone ask Michael Cera if he’s up for it
Good on you Jesse ✊
It ruined his career
It’s funny how when the movie came out, I thought he was a little unrealistic with how Zuckerberg acted weird and “non-human” yet when you give it a few years you realize Zuckerberg was exactly that weird with the mannerisms.
It works out because there are a couple of decades between the two stories. It shows the passage of time.
Or are they closer than I think they are?
Edit: It seems to only be six years. The first movie ends in 2010 with the deposition, and the new one supposedly picks up in 2016 with Cambridge Analytica.
He should have gone for Michael Cena!
Ya, but Brent Spiner has experience playing a stiff robotic nerd disconnected from the human experience.
Jeremy Strong is capable of playing Zuckerberg as we hear him. Jesse Eisenberg is capable of playing Zuckerberg’s high-functioning autism/mania.
No, not the best look.
That’s Michael Cera
Huge bummer but completely understandable
Nothing like movies about tech billionaires. When does the Elon movie come out
/s
Do you blame him? Zuckerberg is a fucking loser.
I wouldn’t want to be associated with him either
I completely understand his reasoning.
Damn but i would have loved it if he accepted it
Honestly, pretty based reasoning
Honestly Jeremy Strong IS the correct choice to play the Zuck between Eisenberg and Strong when it comes to this stage of the story.
Others have said it, Eisenberg played him in his youth very well. That was excellent casting.
I get why Sorkin would try, that rejection lead to a better choice though.
I’m hoping they put it out there now so that they can avoid the comparison all together in interviews.
Strong is one of the best actors of this generation and if the trailer is any indicator – he’s locked tf in.
Yeah, I was attracted to Jesse’s zuck despite being an ah. Good choice for the climate of today
Had to look up conflated.
I wonder if Jesse read some of the leaked memos at Meta that show how gleefully they preyed on an entire generation of kids, he’d change his mind. And be brave
I respect the hell out of this stance. Imagine playing a rapist and the rest of your career people are like “he’s so good at playing a rapist he really nailed the role.” I’d never want to go back lmao Cuckerberg isn’t a rapist but he’s certainly non consensually fucked the entire internet.
Just do an AI Zuck and call it a day.
I mean, it’d be the third time he played Zuckerberg so I can understand why he passed.
How many times can Eisenberg play himself?
Just use a Ai Zuckerberg. No one will be able to tell the difference.
„Conflated“ is used inaccurately.
