Boycotting one match against Israel is not at all the same as boycotting any events with any Israeli participants

    2. Kinda sounds like Fianna Fáil are ok with war crimes and genocide. And turning a blind eye, but we all knew that one anyways.

Why are they so adamant we play this match? An elected official should side with the people or they should be forced to resign. I think protests are in order now.

    4. Same guy was banging on about the independence of the FAI despite the organisation receiving €9m in government funding in 2025.

    5. I don’t think that is true but even if it was I think it would he worth it

    6. He’s asking where this ends, and it’s a legitimate question. Are we expected to withdraw from everything that Israel is also part of?

Reality is no one knows what UEFA will do. Under their own rules and terms they can batter Irish football down to grass roots level by a series of fines and withdrawal of funding, they provide something like a third of direct funding and access to tournaments, national and club, provide a big chunk of it as well.

The fact UEFA didn’t even consider the proposal from FAI and a few others to ban Israel under same conditions as Russia shows they have no interest to act against Israel. They may well have an interest in being arse wipes about anyone else acting.

What anyone else might do is total conjecture but logically organisations do seem to be against bans of Israel and against rocking the boat. So it’s all possible.

The only way this would work is if the US threatened to apply the anti-BDS laws of the US against the entire Irish sporting world for being part of team Ireland.

UEFA or FIFA can not influence the IOC. There is no mechanism to even imply doing this to our Olympians other than sanctions.

      Exciting thing, this sovereignty.

      >> “The Social Democrats called for Israel’s exclusion from all international sporting fixtures.”

Does anyone in that party know what is under the remit of control in the Dáil?

The amount of handwringing over holding Israel accountable the same way the west has effectively cut Russia out of sporting competitions to sanctions is telling.

Any TD that sits on the fence concerning genocide – should lose their seats.

They have made it clear that they are not on the side of humanity- and certainly do not represent us-and I’m sure they have taken a few shillings under the table from the Genocide Colony.

      Genocide defenders: Butbutbutbutbut!!!!!

    12. Not at all true. If the FAI had boycotted the game that would have been the FAI’s decision. If an Olympian at the 2028 games didn’t want to compete in an event against Israeli athletes that would have been their decision as well

2028 Olympics should have Israel and USA booted because of when they launched their attack on Iran.
