      Despite covering less than half a square kilometre, Vatican City serves as the spiritual centre of the Roman Catholic Church and is visited by millions of people each year.

      For comparison, New York City’s Central Park spans about 3.4 km² (1.3 sq mi), making it nearly seven times larger than the world’s smallest sovereign state.

      This would be even better if it was rotated slightly and lined up with the pond.

      Seeing this got me to thinking what is the biggest urban park so I looked it up. Google listed Chugach STATE Park as the largest despite the fact that it is magnitudes larger than the city (Anchorage), only borders the city and is administered by the state. IMO, for a park to be urban it should be within the city, mostly surrounded by urbanization.

      Here’s an idea – overlay the Vatican on top of Rome. Then we could REALLY get a sense of scale

      It would be more interesting if it was an actual country, you know a place with a birthrate like San Marino or Andorra.

      I’ll always recognize the outline of the Vatican city. When I studied abroad in Rome, my daily walk to class took me around that pointy corner on the bottom left. Cars LOVE to whiz around that corner and the sidewalk is about a foot wide. There’s bubble mirrors to help you see around the corner but I never felt safe on that bit of the walk.

      I have walked around the Vatican when I visited Rome. It’s just immense walls, really tall walls, not charming at all, you have to be inside to enjoy any beauty.

      the **Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta** is the smallest country in the world. it holds no land.

      Vatican City moving to Central Park confirmed.

      We’ll even let Pope Leo take either the D or 4 train to head up to the Bronx when the White Sox play at Yankee Stadium.

      The Parking lot lf the Walnart in Calais, Maine is larger than the Vatican City for fucks sake

      The i45/beltway interchange south of Houston is bigger than the Vatican Cit.

      Somehow an unpopular opinion but: Vatican city should not be classified as a country it is completely ridiculous it is.

      That is so much smaller than I pictured it being. I thought it would take up way more of the park.
