    1. We are so unprepared for the wave of migration that will arrive on our doorstep if a Reform government actually comes to fruition and implements the policies they are proposing.

Absolute scenes when the loyalists start demanding a united Ireland to secure the borders

They cross at least up to 5 safe countries before hitting ireland. Why

Quick, someone release another „study“ to distract us from this news.

So much for all the chat from the Brits in the last few days about how migrants flow up north from Ireland

    6. Those statistics are mad.

I would always have assumed that the majority of asylum seekers were arriving into Dublin airport, with either legitimate travel purposes and documents or not, and then claiming asylum when they arrived. Instead it appears about 90% of them are just “showing up” at the IPO office to claim asylum.

That certainly begs the question of how exactly are they actually getting into the country. Are they doing this what I described above, are they immigrating illegally through unknown channels, or are they arriving into NI and then hopping the border down south?

I’m assuming the government would have to have a ballpark figure at least which is more specific than that headline because asylum seekers will be asked how they made their journey.

    7. Not surprising given the Belfast taxis dropping people off outside the IPAS centre on Mount St.

    8. British media was reporting the attacker from the initial attack in Belfast came through the Republic.
We’re all being manipulated all of the time.

    9. I’d love a news story where the government is asked what they’re doing to help folks new to Ireland help address the issues we have. Sure, quite a few cover our gaps on the frontline of our healthcare services, but what else are we doing to help connect recent immigrants with the construction industry, renewable energy installers, mental health service providers, addiction counsellors, etc. What can we do to streamline certifications and/or recognise other ones.

You could imagine that the UK Government may not have any particular motivation to address this issue.

    11. Our government will lead from behind as always, wait until the crisis hits before actually taking any action

    12. Imagine if the rioters in the North got their way, the borders shut, and suddenly the number of immigrants shot up dramatically.
